patch up the program lfo to filter/amp etc and set the lfo time to cycle twice over a bar (erm one filled in note - yeah I know, I'm thick).

use it on loads of sounds in your track, even stuff that sounds ok allready.. I'm getting some excellent suck/stomp loops going like this.. the good bit is changing the initial phase of the lfo on the fly to completely change the feel of the groove, but without dropping any sounds.

you need to tweak but for a beginner this could be a good tip..
