I bought my first computer about 5 1/2 years ago....a laptop with Win95. I always liked the startup sound for Win95. Win98 was a letdown in that category as was XP. I found my laptop, put the Win95 startup wav on a floppy and put it into Windows\Media but the sound quality was sooooo 5 years ago. I opened it in Sonar and used some Reaktor filters and reverb to enhance it a bit. You wouldn't know the difference unless you heard the old next to the enhanced.

Question...can this one make it into the 'I need a life' guiness book of world records?

Thanks in advance for all of your opinions on the matter.

anyone remember "creative.wav" that came with the original Sound Blaster 16 ASP? The big thunder crack that faded to the distance... BEHIND yer FRIGGIN head! That sound had the most AMAZING surround effect I've ever heard from two speakers, and it totally collapsed to mono without phase cancellation. Farkin brilliant. I've spent hours looking for that wav on the internet.

Yes sitty, I think you'd have some competition for that title.

"You wouldn't know the difference unless you heard the old next to the enhanced."

You're right. Especially when yours is in mono, so it sounds worse.

were you expecting a remix of The Windows Sound for the dancefloor? I should've used a Bill Gating effect on it.

:P

psy, i may be able to help you out with that thunderclap.

i'm out of town right now, but i'll drop a line after getting back to home base and checking through a box in my closet.

actually, thinking about it now, i'm thinking of my old SB Live card. your description of the sample sounds like a spot-on match, though. well, we'll find out tomorrow night.
