Folks, just so you know as I only found out yesterday...

STAudio have moved websites so that www.staudio.com is no longer valid...

This website http://www.st-audio.de/ is up however and I believe they've just released V8.4 of the EWDM drivers for the DSP2000/DSP24VE range of cards (Just when we all thought they'd dropped support for it eh?)

You are a god Marc.....

I've been having a few problems lately with odd crashes and I've narrowed it down to the soundcards (ST DSP24V's). Don't know why, but since Easter break it's been a nightmare in the teaching studio...reinstalling the card drivers seems to sort it out. None of the machines are on the net, the SP2 upgrade was done months ago....nothing has changed in the machines but slowly, one by one, they're f*cking up...and it seems to be the card.
Went to www.staudio.com.....nothing to be had!! I asked K and he hadn't heard anything about it. I thought they'd gone tits up or something....

Cheers for da link dude!

aha - found this

Many of us still remember the names of excellent consumer and professional audio devices from Hoontech. Pity, but this well-known company ceased to exist, and its remains were purchased by another well-known sound equipment manufacturer, Ego Systems (ESI).

According to the contract, Ego Systems receives all rights for the ST Audio trademark. ESI is to develop, produce and distribute the new pro audio solutions under the ST Audio brand and provide technical and drivers support for existing products at ST Audio website.

ESI, Ego Systems Inc. (www.esi-pro.com), announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the complete rights of business for the ST Audio (www.staudio.com) product brand beginning September 1, 2003. ESI will manufacture, distribute, develop, and update hardware and drivers for the full range of ST Audio products. ESI will take over all pro-audio production line responsibilities in addition to providing an energetic and dynamic sales department to service both current and future ST Audio customers.

Chess Lim, President and CEO at ESI said, "We are delighted to welcome ST Audio's customers and distributors to the worldwide ESI family. Leveraging its audio expertise in designing high-end digital audio interfaces for the professional and project studio markets, the ST Audio product line will significantly broaden ESI's innovative product range and provide additional solutions to our customers."

ESI has been producing audio gear for the professional market since its inception in 1996. With exclusive E-WDM kernel-level driver technology and DirectWIRE virtual routing solution, ESI is a leading provider of pro-quality audio solutions for both the PC and MAC platforms.

Here's the link Sox

http://www.st-audio.de/data/dsp24ewdm84.zip

Unfortunately K, that's old news now.. the new deal isn't quite so sweet to read...

(Taken from a forum post on that website..)

"...ESI had purchased distribution rights and name rights from Hoonthech that were voided when Hootech went under(and production went kaput). Since this going under happened some time ago it explains one reason why things have not happened with driver development as quickly as we users would have liked(and there were quality complaints). ESI still have some limited responsibilties for support but are unable because of the transfer of STAudio to be as up front as we would like: they no longer have the ability to even list STAudio as affiliated with them..."

agreed, it's not ideal, but i use the older drivers and they are rock. I dunno what the fuss is. If it works, then that's all you need. I'm using the e-mu 1820m now, but the old c-port system was so much easier and stable. I might go back to it. It's still in the rack disconnected.
