I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

i was looking to buy this a few weeks ago when i started working on
programming a singer/songwriter's album. the producer is was looking to cut
studio costs and time (eliminating drum sessions). BFD does sound good
enough to replace a drummer, that's for sure. eventually i thought that the
programming would take just as much time to make it sound realistic stylistically
though. and the dedicated drive business worried me a bit too.

well I put it on a partition (10gb)... but i think if you are using it for 'typical' rock/ballad drum composition, then you dont need the 64 note Polyphony it defaults to - I dropped it to 16 note poly and it sounded good still... No note cut-off's I could hear & it dropped the cpu meter by a good chunk too. So mebbe in that scenario of less poly you wouldnt need a dedicated partition for it?.. mebbe you wouldn't need it anyways, it's only 'recommended' and that could well be to avoid disk fragmentation issues where the files are on a shared drive.

bfd.mp3

had a chance to mess around with bfd for a bit.

wow.

this drum pattern has been put in with a mouse ^ , it's so easy to get some half decent sounding thing straight away with this, spend some time and you could fool most i reckon.

next drum thing out is the new toontrack drumkit from hell - 35gb of drums, with a vsti interface, can't wait to hear that.

ACF1068.mp3

I don't write much music lately cause I been getting tons of studio work. It's a good thing as long as it doesn't last forever.

Pretty much all I do in my spare time is mess around with drums now. This is as good as I've gotten the Drumkit From Hell, but I'd love to get my hands on the DFH2... [drool]

Anyway, this was played live with one edit. Yes, i'm an incessant desktop drummer. Enjoy...

And yeah, there's a lot of processing on that. This is the screenshot of the rack I built in Tracktion. The kit is split out of halion into kick, snare, toms, and "everything else" subgroups for processing and later summing down to stereo. I can then drop this rack onto any track like a VSTi. Tracktion is sick, folks. $80

I used to use the free NSKit, which would be pretty sick nowadays with Tracktion's routing. Haven't gotten around to downloading the latest version (7?), but I've heard good things about it. And that compressor i'm overusing (digitalfishphones' Blockfish) is free, too. Lotsa great sounding free shit out there. Go get it!
