To get an idea of the different sounds of these scales try playing a droning C octave interval in the bass as in the diagram and at the higher end (middle C and above)improvise melodies using only the notes of the Mixolydian mode for example then once you get tuned into the sound of that move onto the next scale.

I was wondering, if there are any well used phrases, progressions etc. that should be known?
For example blues has alot of cliches, and well used patterns, runs, progressions etc. is there anything like that in celtic?
Also, any literature for the non-music reader that could be recommend would be welcome.
and, last but not least, any good celtic artists to consider?
plus any good examples of symphonised celtic music would be great

what made me laugh was in the youtube comments one guy posted:

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!
