SENNHEISER MD421 II
Now 50 years old, the Sennheiser MD421U is a classic large diaphragm, cardioid, dynamic microphone much loved for micing everything from toms & guitar cabs, to vocals. The mic's fame apparently spread when a large order for 600 units was placed with NBC back in the laste 60's. This put the mic into the hands of hundreds of pro engineers which helped spread the mic's rep. The rest as they say is history.
The current MD421U-2 version delivers a freq' response range from 30Hz to 17kHz, and has the addition of a hum-compensating coil. The MD421U-2 also sports a five-position bass roll-off switch, making it versatile on all sorts of loud & "difficult" sources from brass to drums.
