Soundcraft Absolute Zero

If you are looking for a cheap space saving nearfeild monitor then you have to checkout these little red babies from Soundcraft.

"The Zero's woofer uses a deep 30mm voice-coil and features a carefully optimized suspension which enables it to produce high levels of low frequency from its small enclosure. This, in conjunction with a large-diameter port located on the rear, allows the bass response to remain unrestricted, even at high listening levels. The monitor's soft-dome tweeter is driven by a 25mm ferrofluid-cooled voice coil mounted on a specially shaped waveguide. The result is increased power handling and controlled dispersion of high frequency sounds. The crossover network is optimized using the latest CAD techniques to take advantage of the acoustically aligned drivers and high-quality components. The low distortion of the drivers is never compromised."

Features of Absolute Zero

  • High-definition time-coherent design
  • Flat on- and off-axis frequency response
  • 75 watt RMS power rating
  • Wide yet controlled dispersion
  • High-quality crossover with low-loss components
  • Custom-designed drivers
  • Long-throw 170mm LF driver
  • 25mm soft-dome tweeter on proprietary waveguide
  • Vented cabinet with large port for extended LF response, even at high levels

Never used them but have heard them often and they are crisp and clear and balanced as much as you'll get from a speaker this size, they aren't much of a compromise over bigger boxes... besides, there is little choice in this area and they are good value so you gotta check them out...

They sound quite nice, but the bass rolls of quite high 75 hz I think it starts, which means judging bass ends is little tricky, they wont come alive until you push them and you gotta have an amp with more output than they need, these are 75 watts, get 120 watt amp and find the sweet spot.
Also coz they need a push, low level monitoring means it will change quite a lot, when playing them low.Active monitors even low have a nice even sound and still good bass response(ref BM6A'S)
discontined now. only 200 quid when i got them new so a bargain really, make nice hifi speakers if the red matches yer furniture.

Correction They are 95 watt rms, so it still stands 120 watt amp needed to make sing.

I have a set of these speakers for sale (50.00) - they're in good working condition and have a clear sound. I've used them for presenting workshops and have replaced with more portable equipment. Based in London, buyer collects.
