Well, there it is..... an excellent buy at s/h prices, and comes expanded new, at about 800... maybe less.....comments please...
awesome sampler!! Regarding to the small display: Mesa fully compensates the small display, also for pc available. Who needs 640 * 380 lcd's??!!
Because of the small interface, a good and cheap price!!
i want to expand my sampler with an external scsi-cdrom drive. Does the speed (4*, 12* etc) matter when importing samples from cd?
Somebody offered me an 4-speed scsi, does this one work?
Thnx, for any response!!
this is by far an awesome sampler, unbeatable for drums in it's price range....so easy to use with mesa it is unbelievable...i highly reccomend this sampler over all 'phrase samplers' for begginers...this is a great tool and instrament...you can find these units incredibly cheap...i LOVE mine...dont think i am ever gonna sell it, it is perfect for tight drums....really punchy...
this is the greatest thing i have ever brought. ever. unbelievable!!
i use it for drums, synth lines, guitar EVVERYTHING!! it made my drum machine obsolete...
Tha S2000 is the dopest piece of gear since the ice age. It rocks the party that rocks the boh-dy.
I have one for almost 2 years now, and everyday I find a new use for it.
Great machine...
The S2000 is excellent value for money. It is not a mega-sampler but for most people i think it can do the job really well. Dont be fooled by the price this is a professional studio sampler unlike cheap groove/phrase samplers.Especially if you get the outputs expansion you will have a fantastic machine for drums/percussion.The FX expansion card is crap though... And if you are going to get any expansion cards get them from japan they are so cheap there. try this www.ishibashi.co.jp
This one does everything I want for a sampler.
Hahaha!!!
Its so funny... i can with my s2000 sampler edit samples VERY much faster it that little LCD display, 2 buttons and a data-wheel than on my 15" screen and PC with keyboard... HAHAHA!!!
My main beatmachine, if you've got a PC and a scsi card you need:
http://www.rpgfan.demon.co.uk/y2k.htm
edit the S2000 and dump the mem to PC HD, no need for scsi storage devs anymore
I am preparing to buy a s2000 and i was just wondering if it has a slide function?
no the slide is optional as is the detachable kiddie pool.
is any kind of scsi controler good for use with the computer or do i need something good?
goto my web site to download a cubase drum map generator program I wrote for akai s2000/s3000 samplers
Help!!!!
Does anyone know what the chip number for the FMX008 8MB Flash ROM board?
I recently got an s2000 but need to know what type of scsi card I need for a PC. It looks like a parallel port not the standard scsi jack I've found for sell (not to mention the $ on the ones I've seen)
Buy a Adaptec 2904
It does the job well and cheaply at about £30 rather than £300. If your running Windows 2000 you will also need
a couple of .dll files (winaspi.dll and aspi32.dll) in order for it to work. But you can find these if you search for them on google.
Goodluck, its worth it.
i need akai s2000 drivers and mixermaps
music is all i know
S2000 Are for commonly for sale at £250 in the NW of England with 32 Mb RAM.
Help!
Can anyone provide a link to the OS disk for the Akai S2000? I purchased one used and the system disk was not available. The Akai site is not helpful
Thanks

Just in case anybody is in any doubt the latest OS disk Can!!! be downloaded from Akaipro.com you then expand what you've downloaded onto a floppy ( a dos based exe.program) and it works on the S2000
I am also someone who purchased an s2000 without the system disk, and the latest OS, which is for the 5/6000 series does NOT work on the 2000! It should extract as an .EXE file, but it is a .BIN. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hi! I tried to update my AkaiS2000 from OS 1.5 to OS 2.0. But it doesn't work. I try it with OS-Maker and with an selfextract update exe, but no work. Must the eprom updated too? Who can help???? Or Had everybody a copy from OS 1.5 for me? Please help me!!!!
my cousin gave me an s2000 but no mesa. where can i get a copy for win2k?
For Mesa & OS's go to the link i've added with this comment. Even the manuals are online.
The machine rocks, even if it is extremely complicated.
My big regret: can't use MESA software as I have an iMac - with no scsi interface.
There is a USB adaptor by Adaptec/Edirol, but I was told at Turnkey, UK, that this
theoretical solution doesn't work in practice.
Aksys, the newest official editing software s for S5000 and S6000. Ho hum.
While I'm here, does anyone have a *simple* OSX-compatible *sequencing*
program (meaning automation of external devices) that I could download? I'm
thinking that what I want is so basic, surely I can find some shareware solution?
every time i turn on the pc it comes up with found hard ware akai s2000 ...an one know how to stop it
LOVE MY MPC2000 I LIVE IN IT
LOOKING FOR LCD SCREEN HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
I've got a question: I have an external SCSI HD, it's formatted and works just fine when it's connected to my PC AND my S2000. When I try to load samples from it when it's NOT connected to my PC, my sampler doesn't find the HD !
It only works when my HD and akai S2000 were connected to my pc when I start up my computer. This is very unpleasant because now I can't use it anywere else then at home. The HD was formatted by my S2000 so i think that isn't the problem. I also have a terminator SCSI thing but that doesn't make any difference.
Can someone please help me with this ?
thanks
Hans
i need to get the s2000 system disk can anyone help i have downloaded the drivers but they dont appear to work
there, get it from akai
Great sampler, but it's prety unusuable for serious producing without the 8 x monoout board, (which come up on the ebay now and again) once you got that, this is a great sampler. I don't want to hear people moan about the LCD! Yes, it is small but your eyes get used to it after a short while and the group buttons make everything nice and quick. Great sound too, it's not crunchy like the old akai stuff but it is punchy. throw in a breakbeat and it will spit it back out at you with sonic force!
Nice piece of gear... Oldnow but charismatic... and I just got one. Only problem? No system disk and all links (including those above) are either defunct or "not operating correctly". The manufacturer links above lead to an empty page with the akai address ending in archive.php but nothing on the page.
If anyone sees this post, I would greatly appreciate a location to get the system disk.
Much Thanks...
Keni

Thanks... I managed to download it, but I can't get it to run successfully. It's a DOS program that windows won't allow direct disc access... I tried a number of ways but it fails the same every time...
