it's not there Akai S3000XL

Akai S3000XL

The workhorse Akai s3000xl - a superb sampler.
Dunno much about these units, and they are no longer top of the range, so with the s2000 biting at it's heels spec' wise, the 3000 model's should drop a bit in price maybe...

spec-wise they are similar to the S2000, same polyphony, and ram, but coming in with 8 poly outs & mix-out as standard, bigger, way-bigger more comprehensive edit screen,

The spec's are the standard S-Series features.......

  • 32 voice polyphony
  • Digital resonant filters
  • Assignable Program Modulation (APM), for flexible sound control
  • Powerful DSP features including Timestretch
  • New MultiMode for easy multitimbral setup and layering, setting sounds to channels was a bit of a pain in previous S series
  • MESA Remote Control/Librarian Software for Macintosh and now pc... reports are it's a bit ropey...
  • RAM expansion (up to 32MB) with standard SIMMs
  • Standard MIDI File player
  • Compatibility with E-mu and Roland sound libraries

Like I said... pretty much the same as the S2000, (that's why they are great value)..... here's the same upgrade options......

  • EB16, (SampleVerb in the US), 4-channel, studio-quality, multi-effects board
  • IB304F, (ProFilter in the US), DSP board for expanded filtering + EQ
  • Up to 16MB of non-volatile Flash Memory
  • SHD524 - 524MB hard disk
  • FMX008 - 8MB Flash ROM board

The S3000XL model add's the following to the basic S features..............

  • S/PDIF digital I/O
  • Direct-to-disk recording.... you can add a scsi hard-drive and record striaght thru the S into the drive and cue the playback..... production tool stuff......
  • Stereo Mix + 8 individual outputs

And these are the spec's for the internals.....

Hi!
Effectboard EB-16 for sale!
It's compatible with the S3000 xl, S2000 and mpc2000(xl).
It features various multi FX (stereo)under which reverb, delay, distortion, ringmod and more.
You can use all these effects simultaneously!
the board has 2 multi FX channels, plus two additional reverb channels.
Mail me what you'd like to pay for it, then I'll mail you back what I'd like to have for it.
Check out the new prices before you start bidding low ;).

If you have a filterboard, I also am interesting in trading the boards with no additional payment from either side.

Bye!

This sampler can really do the business when you get into its brains, still sounds wicked and its better than fiddling with a mouse or relying TOTALLY on a pc.
The sampler is good to gig with as all the S range are and i have never had a failure from this sampler, not crashing or anything.
As far as i am concerned its not about how you make a track but how it sounds, software for some hardware for others.
I sold mine recently but only to get an S6000 which i got now............no complaints.

The s3000 is Immense, i copped an s900 for 80 quid, and ive seen the s3000 go for the same price pretty much. The capabilities for sound design on these is amazing, simply because of the filters.

I paid £50 for one of these a couple of weeks ago. Brilliant Machine, amazing filters.

The Akai S2800 thru he S6000 are some of my favorite samplers. I have a rolling 20 space with a S3000, S3000XL, S5000, and (3x) S6000's that I got all for excellent prices on the used market recently. Put it this way, all of them and the case were much less than one of them originally sold for as new and I finished maxing the RAM with extra chipps I had. I can't get enough of these and am now filling up 2 more racks with EMU's and AKAI's and my production friends are now asking to "borrow" them. You can't get the Akai sound from software on a PC. The 3000XL reviewed above uses 72pin SIMMS you can get for free off your pals from their old PC's.
