it's not there F.A.T PCP-330

F.A.T PCP-330

Just about the only Vocoder available on the market, and it's got a popular price... The PC-330, comes from Freeform Analog Technology (FAT) the folks who make the Freebass module.

Traditionaly, a vocoder, is an effect which takes two inputs, an instrument (carrier) and a voice (modulator), and superimposes vocal effects over the instrument. This is achieved by the use of a bank of filters, which divide the signals into various bands of the audio spectrum. Driving the modulator input, either by speaking into a microphone, or driving it by a recorded voice, or other signal, excites particular audio bands, causing the vocoder to excite the corresponding frequencies in the instrument signal..... Naturally, the treated signal can be anything, as can the driver signal that effects it

On this model, the carrier can be either an internal VCO or external line input, whilst both line and mic inputs are given for the modulator signal, (the signal that manipulates the carrier)

The PC-330 has eleven filter bands each with it's own level knob on the front panel. The final output can contain any mix of modulator, carrier, vocoded signal and a special filtered version of the signal.....

The FAT products are distributed WW by Turnkey/Soho Soundhouse in London,.... I've included a link below direct to the PC-330 page..... You can order one if you want. They do credit card mail order.... tax free WW as far as I know....(nope I don't work for them.... but if you want one, that's the only place to get it!)

Anyhow.... How does it sound ?....... Here's an RA file to listen to.....

Well, you also have Music and More VF11 which have

almost identical specs, or you could use an effect

like Zoom 1201 or Boss SE-50, with vocoder patches...

EVEN THOUGH ITS NOT LISTED HERE(OR THAT I CANT FIND IT)I OWN A F.A.T. tHC-00 RESINATOR.IT COST £169 FROM TURNKEY. I FOUND THAT ITS NOT VERY GOOD AT HANDLING BASS AND AFTER TWO WEEKS OF USING IT THE RESONANCE CONTROL CRACKLED, TURNKEY ADVISED SPRAYING WD-40 ON IT WHICH I DIDN'T LIKE THE SOUND OF, CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND ANYTHING ELSE. OTHER THAN THAT IT IS AN ALRIGHT FILTER AND GOOD AT MAKING THINGS IN TO JELLY.

Didnt like it much, the vocoder on the sirius or jp8080 is actually beter.
Also the digitech talker is of a higher spec..
And about the resinator, it actually more of a lfo box and not a true rez filter is fun though but on't use the volume control (with a high level) on the rack itself unless you like the soun of surf...

I've got a resinator too... big pile of homemade doo doo that creates ground hum if you touch the case at all, really bad noise level, and as badly made as all of the FAT product range.

I've got a freebase too which is el-krapo and used to have the MAM version of this vocoder, which was utter turd.

The worst garage-made equipment ever. Avoid!!!!

I just got a used PCP 330 with no power supply. It only says 12v AC, but no mention of amps. Does anyone know what the correct amps would be, and does anyone know where I could locate the manual?

Thanks,
Bob
