Ok.... I'm gonna add all the old bitz of vintage kit... not that i've used them all myself.. but i'm gonna dd the spec's then people can add comments based on real-life use.... so , as i had nothing to do today, i thought i'd start to add them as basic page templates... then add the spec's later....so...

The Korg VC10..... about as rare as rocking-horse shite.... a Vocoder... who's used one?..... please add your comments

Guess what ive got one of these rocking horse stools, and mines got the original mic on it. I picked mine up at a car boot sale for £70. It's good fun to play with for about 5 minutes but its not got the control of a good vocoder but it's OK, mind you saying that i've made about £500 from hiring it out, so if anyone wants to hire one let me know

I've got one of these little gems. Really fun piece of kit, deffinitely one of my favorites. As you can see from the pic above it has it's own keyboard and is totally polyphonic, you can also attach a gooseneck mic to the top of it, no that is classy. Some of the cool features are the pitchbend wheel, it's ensemble effect (basically a chorus sound) and one of the knobs is for adding noise to the sound which can have very frightening results and if you have an MS-20 there are a ton of fun things they can do togethor. All in all it is a really awesome piece, I feel really lucky to own one. The sound is good, nothing too great when compared to other higher end vocoders, but it has a deffinite character of it's own. If you ever see one for sale go for it, a truely classic unit.

And to top everything off one of these lovely vocoders and you can build much fatter beats than w/ those Groovecraps.

I haven't used this one but I can tell you what how to use a vocoder in general.
They function by combining two audio sources.
Most typically used: a voice from a microphone and an electronic sound wave from a synthesizer.
So, depending on the gear you line in your audio sources and then process them with the vocoder.

Who asked you?Nobody on this site cares about how to use a vocoder.This one has it's own carrier signal you see that little connector on top that's where the modulator goes(microphone)These sound nice but my seekers voice spectra is clearer and more intelligible.They're also $200 cheaper now because no one cares except me.Bastards.

Quite rare and somewhat limited Vocoder of the MS series. Good fun. The inbuilt polysynth is limited to a fixed sawtooth wave to provied plenty of rich harmonics for the Vocoder. Best results are really achieved by using external source and modulation inputs.
