SOUNDS/SAMPLES? i have a smart

how to get my own sound in to the
machine...if anyone can help me

to dump sounds to and from the ea range, you need either a third party editor/librarian (korg don't provide one!) or use a sysex capable package (cakewalk sonar is perfect for sysex) to send and recieve sounds/patterns/songs. There is an EA1 editor at http://norsez.tripod.com/index.html
maybe they can provide one for your es1 (I think the editor covers the whole EA range!)
insert card - with .aiff or .wav format samples on it -, press shift 15 (card) turn dial to LOD, press 15, select sample number or all the samples with the dial, press 15 again. 47,5 secs, and altogether max, delete the factory samples the fuck outta there, they worth a handful of fart in strong wind, at least in my opinion.
u also might try formatting the card (insert card, press shift 15, select FOR with dial, press 15, select YES with dial, press 15) before u get yer samples on it, since some opsyses' flashmemory formatting procedure is incompatible with the es-1.
if it still doesn't help, well, BEAT THE FUCKER. sometimes this sort of unquestionably professional attitude really helps with amps, although don't expect too much in this case.

good piece, but a small one, too bad it's short on sampling memory (6 megs approx.), and build quality. also can't find out why the hell they use these smartmedia cards, it would be a lot more stable with compactflash.
