a real great mixer! very strong and perfect for live or studio utilisation. th mackie VLZ 1604 can be mounted in a 19" rack (SKB or other flight case are perfect for this kind of utilisation). I use it for liveset performances in anykind of situation the mixer is always very good and i never had any problem with it in years. It's a 16 mono tracks mixer with 4 subgroups, 2 stereo effects and 4 mono FX send and stereo returns. The equalisation is quite good with a semi parametric on the mid section even if i would have prefered a semit parametric on the low mid for a better bass control... a userful thing is the LOW CUT button on each track which allow to cut frequencies under 100Hz.. (good for snares and HH coz it makes less buzz noise if you use an overdrive for exemple) ... You have all the classical output of professional mixer, inserts , line and mix (XLR) inputs on each tracks, outputs are stereo RCA / JACK 6.5 asymetric, (no XLR outputs, so bad!!), tape-in / tape-out RCA connection for live recording, C-R out (Control Room) for monitors with an independant level button, phantom alimentation... Assignation to the subgroups for each track and for each effects,... a very good pre-amp... a very good mixer.... i got it for quite cheap price (around 600euros in second hand) but usually th price is around 1500 euros.. (not so cheap!)....

we purchased this mixer and received too little training. the sales person has passed on. we were left out in the cold with no manusl. how can we get one. thank you joe
