it's not there REFX JunoX

REFX JunoX

a superb must-have dance synth for a variety of styles. Based on the Alpha Juno this one rocks!
I got sent this one some time ago to review and somehow forgot to add it (whoops!! - It's funny... when a plugin synth like this is so well known you assume everyone knows about it... mebbe that's why i forgot to add it to the listings.

What can you say about it that hasn't already been said by the army of loyal fans who already own this synth!? - Here's the site blurb from REFX:

If you like the sound of the "Alpha Juno" you will love the sound of JunoX².

It's FAT, it's RAW, it's BAD, it's BARBARIC.

No respectable Techno / Dance / Pop musician can be without a JunoX². In fact, nobody can be without one, it's that good...

If you don't believe us, download the demo and hear for yourself.

You will instantly fall in love with the out-of-the-box useable presets and when you tweak them a bit, to suit your needs, we guarantee a big smile on your face.

  • Feature highlights
  • 22 Oscillators waveforms
  • Eight filter types
  • 128 Presets included
  • Very easy-to-use

The version they sent me was 1.4 - I could find no criticism of it except that it was pretty juicey on the old CPU usage limiting it's use for users with lesser P3 or so type machines, but apparently the latest update to version 1.5 has sorted that out & it's now way lighter on the CPU...

JunoX's strongest point?... well apart from the great sound & ease of use as REFX claim, to my mind it's other strength is that you can just open it and dial up a preset sound and off you go - For both the experienced and newbie user alike, when creativity hits, you want to just get on and compose... Synths like this JunoX which offer right-out-of-the-box classic sounds are a real boon!! - and of course you can tweak your own custom sounds no problems!

This is one of those synths like say 'Junglist' which for the price is TOTALY outstanding and should go down in a s/w synth 'hall of fame' imo!! - a regular techno-fest for peanuts... Do yourself a favour... even if there is a crack out there (not sure actualy if there is) but even if there is, PAY THEM AND BUY IT!!!... please!!... Dancetech supports ALL value-for-money products, and the ethic of the site from it's inception was always to promote the idea and FACT that quality release-able tunes can be achieved with a minimum of cash outlay...

With companies like REFX dedicating themselves to provide so much 'bang for the buck', they really need all the support we users can give them so that they can thrive and bring us all yet more great support & products! - Go on!... get your cheque book or credit card out and do the decent thing!

A super quality synth for the price of a pair of GAP jeans!! - 10/10!!

Having recently purchased both JunoX and a Juno 106, I can honestly say that Junox does sound very much like the Juno. Not quite as warm and deep, but certainly within a knats chuff of it.

Being a sad (and pissed) wanker I have just sat and matched settings on the Juno to some of the presets on Junox and they pretty much match sound for sound.

Junox is missing the groovy control over portamento via the DFO and LFO which the Juno has but apart from that is well worth £25.

Could it replace my Juno 106 ? No, but it was £400 cheaper.

Well worth the dosh. Great for sexy pads, deep basses and that great 'hoover' rave sound.
