Native Instrument's KONTAKT (now at version 3) is probably at this date the Rolls Royce of s/w samplers and is available for PC & MAC in all professional/popular formats. Kontakt alloows playing of up to 256 stereo voices, is 16-part multitimbral, and offers up to 32 outputs per plug-in or standalone instance - (multiple outs functioning as a plugin where the host sequencer offers multiple VSTi outputs)...
Kontakt draws on NI's superb trackrecord of s/w synthesis to offer such features as Realtime granular time-stretching and resynthesis as well as Full Drag and Drop sample management, Graphical display for convenient sample mapping and setting of key ranges, up to 128 velocity layers, Integrated EQ, delay, reverb, and waveshaper effects, Fourteen different filter types, Unique tempo-synced step-sequencers, LFOs, and multi-stage envelopes.
Kontakt also has an integrated loop editor with waveform display, support for 8 loop points & Includes more than 3 gigabytes of professional license-free samples, which come on additional disks included in the box - Acoustic & Electric Bass, Nylon & Steel guitar, Drums & Percussion, Piano & 'Best of Synth' taken from NI's Reaktor & Absynth etc... We use the KONTAKT extensively at Dancetech's studio, and the included samples offer a good all-round set for additional production of songs. Kontakt's compatibility with popular Akai & SF2 formats means a huge sample collection is instantly available to the purchaser covering every possible type of sample requirement!
