Alfonso D'Amora Megatone

freeware multiband compressor vst plugin.
Another freeware VST plugin made with Synthedit - Here's the blurb from the included text file:

This is Megatone, a VST multiband compressor for pc.(VST is a technology by Steinberg)

the three bands are defined with two horizontal sliders, that show a value in khz for the crossover points.

each band (low, mid, hi) has three knobs:

1)Comp.: amount of compression, it works in a different way than common compressors, it's similar to a tape type compression. it's action turns down the db level. very high settings can degrade the signal. it's attack rises at 1ms, and due to the design, it's free from cracklings and doesn't need longer times (apart of the "Transient" mode, described later.)

2)Boost: it rises the level of the signal. if applied to bring the compressed signal db level at the same level of the uncompressed signal, the appearent gain is impressive, and more the compression, more the boost that can be applied.

3)Smooth:it could be defined as the compression decay, but due to the different concept of the compression stage it's action is different. it gives some more homogeneus compression if rised. it's something to decide by ear.

There are also two buttons, Mid-Transient and Hi-Transient. If pushed on, the attack of the compressor is slightly delayed, respectively in the mid-band and in the hi-band. This changes a bit the behaviour of the plugin, as the uncompressed transients are fully powered up by the boost knob. If the dry signal is very high, near the 0db, the boost knob will bring to overload the uncompressed attacks. but this feature is very useful for percussive sounds, of course they must be recorded with some headroom. the effect is a sort of attack booster. For common compression tasks is good to leave them off.

Sounds ok!... it's about 550kb to download, so why not get it d/loaded and give it a go!....

I can't find a link to download this either, and I've hunted high and low on this site - can anybody please give any more clues as to how to get hold of the download? I've got MegatoneMBC, and I'd really like to try this version!
