Access VIRUS TI Snow

The Virus Ti Snow was released in 2008 & it is your cheapest entry to the extensive world of the Virus Ti platform, albeit at reduced poilyphony

The Virus Ti Snow was a small affordable desktop Virus unit released in 2008 & it is your prime bang for buck to buy into the now almost legendary Access 'Total integration' Ti Virus sound on a budget & with it's release price of around £800 it was exactly half the price of the two keyboard Ti version (Virus Ti kb & Virus Polar) & £400 cheaper than the original Virus Ti rack/desktop model.

Yes on paper it's got less polyphony & is only 4 part multi-timbrel versus the 16 part ability of the flagship parent units that spawned it... that's because it's using a cheaper DSP to reduce costs, but it still delivers a healthy voice count easily comparable with typical flagship synths of just a few years ago unless you get into running extremely complicated & fx hungry patches. In reality you are unlikely to ever stress one of these out & run out of voices for typical compositions. As for using it in the DAW you can of course render off or freeze tracks when you've reached the max 4 parts.

You can pick up a Ti Snow for £500 - £600 quid on Ebay & they are hard to beat tbh, delivering a massive variety of sounds to suit many genres.

ACCESS VIRUS TI Snow, Desktop Synth, internal Effects, Arpeggiator, USB-Audio Interface 2 x analog I/O's, 192 kHz / 24-Bit D/A, MIDI I/O, LCD-Display, Polyphony : between 10 to 50 Voices, 512 RAM and 512 ROM Patches, 64 embedded Multi-Patches, TI-Function.

"The Virus TI Snow is the ideal companion for live musicians and for those who want to take a powerful but compact synth to a jam session." said Marc Schlaile, Access' Product Director. "Over a thousand sounds can be accessed with a maximum of 4 button pushes. With 3 programmable hardware knobs per patch and additional ones for filter and envelope control, performers can control the core of the sound without having to dive into an edit menu."

The TI Snow is 100% compatible with all patches for the TI series and plays back a maximum of 50 voices with 4 multi-timbral parts (64 multi performances, 512 RAM and 512 ROM patches). The oscillator models include virtual analog, hypersaw, wavetable and graintable types. The filter section features a Moog cascade filter emulation with 1-4 poles and self-oscillation among others. The FX section includes simultaneous reverb, delay, eq, distortion, lo-fi effects, bass boost, phaser and chorus/flanger - even in multi mode.

Sounds can also be edited and stored using Virus Control, their VST/AU/RTAS compatible plug-in. 16 patch select buttons can be used for fast access to edit menus and navigation. "Easy edit mode" allows for fast and dramatic changes providing a selection of context-sensitive parameters which adapt by analysis of the underlying sound patch. Nevertheless, pretty much all parameters can be edited on the hardware when switched into "expert edit mode".

The sturdy metal enclosure of Virus TI Snow houses a pair of stereo inputs and outputs (output level @ +4dB), MIDI in- and outputs. USB can be used for Total Integration, which offers another three stereo outputs into the Virus Control plug-in and sample-accurate MIDI timing.

The audio inputs can be utilised to mangle any type of sound using the filters and effects.

The Snow comes in a messenger bag which offers enough space for the power supply and additional cables.

I was wondering if the new Beamz Interactive Music System can be linked through midi to the Access Virus TI Snow sound module.
