I have a pair of PBM 6.5mkII. They served me very well for many years. Musical and practial speakers. Could have more bass - but then they needed a bigger woofer.
Considering the price and size they are a steal.

I can't say enough good things about these dynamos. I have used them in my rowhome at ungodly listening levels as well as at a nice respectable volume. They are clean, clear, transparent and really natural sounding. It's what a studio monitor is supposed to do, add nothing other than what is contained in the program material. Where they really shine is with vocal, midrange and horns. Crisp, sparkly, shimmering highs explode from these in a way that belies the diminuitave size. Best when elevated and placed carefully away from a rear wall as the rear firing bass port's placement is the key to the bass definition. Never tiring to listen to and a great value.

proyection is outstanding considering price range. For they are a classic for music and post production.
They are as important as Yamaha's NS-10m. With out wearing my ears out.

I loved my PBM 6.5s - used in studio and for listening. However, foam rubber surrounds on both speakers eventually... disintegrated.

I see that someone on eBay is selling replacement rubber surrounds - is this a common problem?

Top monitors, picked mine up for £60 on ebay !
They're not totally accurate but for the money they're superb, way better than budget near field monitors.

Thanks for the web site! I bought mine "used" from a music center that has since closed down. The where used for the the first city fireworks extranvaganza here in Houston TX as monitors for some famous composer that put all of music together. I was told he was pushing 1000 watts through them. When I heard them, they where playing through a 400 watt system with clarity I never heard before in regards to monitors. No coloring of the sound make mixing perfect. EQ later. Play them through a straight amp and put at least a foot of space behind them with no foam or baffling.

Yes it is common for the foam to deteriate on older speakers, simply re-foam and you are good as new.

I have had my pbm's for at least 15 years and they are still the only ones I
have in my home project studio. Still going strong. For the price I don't
    think the could be beat.

I had the same problem several years ago and bought replacement rubber surrounds off Ebay including the glue to do the job myself. It was easier than I thought it would be and I'm still using these speakers to this day!
