JBL 4312

JBL 4312 was a respected nearfeild monitor in it's time.. mebbe worth a look in the free-ad's?
The JBL 4312 - heard them many times... JBL at that time had a less 'european' sound... more upfront... but also clean & balanced and capable.... they are a well rated nearfeild speaker still used in many studio's - I personaly didn't like the late 80's early 90's JBL sound on their smaller speakers, but these weren't bad... worth a look s/h and spares should be fine i'd say from JBL.... any user comments please add them...

I have a pair of JBL Model 4312 Control Monitor speakers and I need to replace one of the midranges due to the cone being popped in. It makes a slight distortion sound especially when listening to my surround sound system. I know of a place that will replace the come, but I have to take it out and mail it in and wait for them to mail it back. I would much rather replace it with the same exact midrange. Is there anyone out there that can assist me with my problem? Thanks for your time and trouble.

JBL, what can I tell more... They invent all ? yes, with Altec Lansing and Electro Voice and.. Tannoy. About the monitor, this little or big control cabinet, it's undoubted, sure, than JBL and Tannoy has invented this one.
JBL has been a forerunner precursor of professionnal sound, and its succes is explained through the various (and often bad) copies of JBL production!!
JBL sound is fabulous, the reason why still today the monitors JBL are in more than 80% of studio world wide. The fabulous 43 séries are still in use after sometimes more tha 20 years, 30 years of great and immortal services;
The new monitor serie LSR is a dream for all real engineer, because it sound with so much realism (I play HAMMOND organ B3, and I can tell than it's difficult to well prick again sound of Lelsie, it's an art) and fineness, than all great studio has these monitors! We so find these monitors, and I want to speak about the LSR 28P (200w + 70w amp power in) in high fidelity installations!
I've compare to a Genelec, JBL is rather better. We feel the long experience of more than 50 years. They have this little thing in more witch make the difference!
The new remake of legendary 4311/10 name now 4312mk2 has been a succes in EUROPE where many professionnals studios and so, people who like high fidelity professional sound with realism has been bought in less than 100 days! (contingent of 2000 enclosures because the production were limited with N° of each cabinet)
It's simply fabulous.
Try LSR 28P you will be enchant!
like RAFA SARDINA great stars engineer who had AWWARDS with LSR 28P

I bought a pair of these in the early 90’s from a recording studio that had used them as their primary near field monitors.
Now 15 years later I STILL have them as an A/B system for my DAW.
The sound and quality of these large and heavy NF monitors bears witness to why JBL is such a renowned speaker manufacturer. I painted them flat black to give that “I’m a bad ass speaker’ look that all the other ‘modern’ manufactures use.
And yeah ... they STILL are :)

JBL 4312 for sale ($500 Pair). These speakers are in top working order and have been lovingly maintained over the years. They were used as my main studio speakers, best I ever had... These speakers need more space than I have now, so sadly I have to part with them...

Do you have any pictures you could send me? Are you the original owner? Do the speakers have any dents in the domes? Rips in the cones? Rotted foam? I'm interested. Thanks, C. Evans

I WILL SAY AS A PROFESSIONAL AUDIO PRODUCER THAT THERE ARE NO MONITORS MADE NOW TO COMPARE TO THE JBL 4312'S. THE QUALITY THAT MADE THIS A GREAT SPEAKER IS NOT REPRESENTED IN ANY SPEAKER LINE EXCEPT THE JBL'S THAT COST OVER $10,000! THIS SPEAKER IS A TREASURE AND I ADVISE ANYONE TO FIND THEM IN GOOD CONDITION AND HOLD ON TO THEM BECAUSE YOU WON'T GET THIS QUALITY ANYMORE. I WOULD NOT SELL MINE FOR $1000! IF YOU HAVE THEM, KEEP THEM OR SELL AT A VERY HIGH PRICE. YOU CAN'T DUPLICATE THESE ANYWHERE! THANK YOU.

Hi, do you still have the speakers? and if so, would you be interested in trading
for several Native Instruments Kontakt sample libraries?

Thanks,

My stepfather was able to replace a few component JBL tweets and mids and subs. I think he was able to find those individual components and order them through crutchfield. (audio?) something like that.

I now have his JBL 4312s
My product review is 5 stars out of 5 stars. Absolutely wonderful control monitors. I recommend them to anybody wanting accurate studio quality sound. These speakers have always been absolutely amazing!

I have a pair of excellent condition 4312 Control Monitors I need to sell.
Moved from a big house to a condo. The sound is too big for the condo. I
bought these back in the 1980's to use as home speakers. They are amazing.
The original wood cabinets are in perfect shape and the speakers and grill are
also pristine. I will also sell the Sony amplifier I used to power them. I will
supply pictures to interested people.
Please email if interested.

John
