it's not there
Classic vintage stereo compressor limiter.
Clearmountain deems the SSL 'an obvious favorite', as is the Pultec EQP1A3.
"I don’t have [UREI] 1176’s but I do have 1178’s, which are virtually the same except for the fact that they’re stereo units. I also like the LA3A very much, which is a completely different sound from the 1176. To me, the LA3A is a lot more transparent on a vocal, so you’re not as aware of the compression. With the 1176 or 1178 you hear the compression. It’s more of an effect, and I like that for drums."

I have a 1176 on ebay ,what did it sell for new, please let me know, just curious
Pro : Very good unit with character/ very smooth... sometime you didn't even know that it is working in the signal chain. Good for vocal and drum (stereo)
Con : Hard to find service and part. / very expensive
paid for $ 1,850 (June, 2004)
I have the 1620 but; I plug in the two tech. tables and they play well. However, when I try to listen to them through the headphones, I get a real strange noise. This only happens with the turntables and NOT the CD mixer. I changed the mixer to another Urei and the noise doesn't happen.
wh-hat?... your pluging TT's into an 1178?
The Urei 1178 makes my crap singing sound almost ok!!:)
