steinberg is so lax about updates and when they do release
an update is tends to introduce all of these other bugs. i've
been using cubase from the get go and do love so many
aspects, but lately i've been having horrible crashes and
system overloads. then steinberg's policies regarding
updates with nuendo and sx are getting annoying.

so anyone switched to logic from cubase or sx on a mac
ans satisfied with the change?

i'm in between projects right now so it would be a good
time to switch. i have used logic before and found it a bit
more "illogical" than cubase, but maybe that could be
sorted with more time using it.

k? anyone?

which version?... why doncha use an older version until the current update is stable & fixed or use the crack & leave the box one you paid for on the shelf.

let's face it, the licence/dongle only really is all your money paid for, not the actual s/w

well, i'm on osX so that's not an option really.

the problem is that the previous versions all had WORSE bugs and system performance. totally unusable.

you've used logic 6, right, k? how would you rate it?

I've just switching FROM logic to SX ( using PC.. sigh.. ) . Logic is so much different in small things (I used ver 5), somehow I have the feeling that I was happier with that prog, although I haven't finished a song using SX yet. And maybe that's the reason

The only thing about SX is that it's much more logical to me (khmm..) as the interface has been re-worked completely, while emagic is still adding new functionality to the same gui. So you could have som problems first, but as soon you'll get the hang of it, you won't be disappointed. I'm not sure, but AFAIK emagic also dropped VST support from ver. 6 which could be a problem if you used vsp plugins with SX.

dont own a mac - sorry - but Logic 5 is fine, apart from lack of rewire2 and seperate VSTi out's, it's all 100% perfect, albeit, these proggies all have some minor irritations somewhere.

I like SX too - very smooth - in some ways I like it more than Logic - but miss certain Logic things like loop function

man, i haven't ben this stuck in a decision in a long time. i
might wait it out until i get a g5. then there's no way to
have all of the performance issues or overload. i have too
many vst plugs to switch to buying AU. that would be a
whole lot of $ just to equal what i've already got.

wish there was a logic demo i could test out though. that
would make things a little easier.

and of course emagic has to release 6.2 optimized for the
g5 in the midst of all of this.
