"chewing" effect - meaning what?.... you got a kik, a bassline (which starts with a hi-pass filter or bandpass effect intro before it opens up) that bassline/synthline has a delay on it which surges back subtely in rhythm, then there's an effected vocal here and there plus a few link effects and a hoover synth mirroring the bassline, there's a hat and a clap/rimshot mix ....

so what's this "chewing" you refer to ??

It sounds like the beat is "chewing" on the synth/bass (actuallly it appears to me that it's
"chewing" on everything else in the mix too), tastefully. It also has a reverb which
dissapears shortly when the kickdrum is talking. It's like theres not enough room for
everything except for the kick. It almost sounds organic, like it's pushing everything away
and blowing it back, kind of sucking it up.
I havent heard many songs with a heavy effect like in "Satisfaction". Maybe a new sound
coming up? Like a gate that opens in a special rhythm.

Are you refering to "ducking" perhaps? It's a compressor that's sidechained to the kick, so every time the kick comes in, the volume of everything routed to the compressor gets lowered in volume. This trick's been used for a long time, especially to move the bass out of the way temporarily so the kick can be heard better over a bass that sits in a similar frequency range.

Yeah "ducking", that must be it. Probably something that has been used a lot but i can't remember i have heard it this EXTREME (like in "Satisfaction") before. :-)

Usually it's not used as an effect - it's usually used to move one instrument out of the way while another is playing, or in the broadcast world to lower the music while someone is speaking.

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

and there's the intro 'pumping' effect in isolation in 128kb hi-fi

I think you'll find it's delay either with a delay unit/soft or using a file copy mebbe - but the delay is big, I cant see it's ducking being used.

God, So Much Love to Give - when you combine extreme compression with the
compressors on a radio station, I found it almost unlistenable, like someone was
riding the fader up and down throughout the track... I think that was DJ Falcon
and Thomas Bangalter, actually.

Anyhow - Daft Punk pushed that whole thing further and further... and to my
mind, slightly too far... enough with sucking compressors!
