heh here we go again , i'm a sucker for these threads. But it's rather intresting (especially for the one who starts it ;).

d/l the sample,
ok there's loads of delay innit but you can still hear that stuttering effect only on the choir!
I can get a "similar" effect in Logic's Tremolo - but it's just a straight LFO, not that dope RHYTHMIC stuff you can hear in this sample. (anyone slide the faders that fast on a mixer ;)

Is it just very fast and precise automation on the volume?
Any clue how they did it?

My aim was to create that rhythmical effect that a LFO can't do - and this forum is ace! Thanks everyone.
I tried out the Gate/Sidechain thing Craig mentioned first, and it works just awesome for stuttering in whatever rhythm i want.
Earlier this day i was on my way to draw some friggin volume envelopes, so this method saved a lot of work.

But certainly IM have some more secrets, like the ones Psy is aiming at. Mine didn't sound as nice as IM's, but at least i'm progressing.

simple - the opening fast staccato synth-line is trigger-gating the choir pad - Listen - the choir staccato follows the rhythmic pattern of the synth part.

use MIDIGATE unless you use Logic (or is the new MIDIGATE working in Logic now?.. it used to only work in Cubase I think

or use another s/w or h/w gate

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

3rd or 4th or whatever vote for a gate, but the super fast stutter might just be an audio edit

theres also chopper in cubase and destroyfx "skidder"

ok this may seem like a no-brainer, but try it anyway. Route mod-wheel to attack and release times on the sampled loop of the choir. It's just a tiny little snipet of sound, essentially with formants that make it up. So, as you increase mod, attack and release fall simmultaneously, then just play the notes staccato in the passage, like the sequence. Try it at half speed. The notes will play out, and then just increase mod and they'll tighten up. There is some band-pass filtered high-end mixed in in part of the sound too, some of it being noise. The rest is just delay tricks. Should take you all of twenty minutes if you want to get it just right. That can be quite a while in composition time for some, but not impossible, if that's the thing you were after.
