Quarters are tight, so I need to stay with modules-finally found an Emax rack to replace that big ol' keyboard, so now Im gonna get a dedicated controller board. What I need to know is what kind of features I want to look for.
I have an Emax1 rac, ESI32, TX81Z, SR16 and Basstation
Hilevelt digs his fatar-anyone else?
Oh-Im gonna try and sell the key version, so its out of the picture.
Thanks

Oh yeah! I forgot about that! So how would I set it up to use it as a controller and still get the sounds out of it?--maybe a little MIDI hookup map would be cool here, Mr. Kilo?
Basstation-out-->MMT in, MMT out-->????
Oh, the Emax guy just sent me a not saying that he was copying disks and the damn thing frizzed out on im! Maybe he got a better offer, which would suck but be understandable, but I think he was on the level, Better him than me, after having forked over some $$$!
SO for now, I can use EITHER the Emax or the BS as controller--I like the Emax cuz it has more keys for drum sounds, etc, so is there any reason why that wont work?
In your MIDI section you diagram how to run something like this, but I got a little, yh, confused, so maybe...anyone..could run through how I might go about hooking all this together?
Start the clock, send the bill at the end of the month!

well, use the Keys market TX - RX to set up the output.... switch the utility switch to Keyboard, then hiold down TX (transmit, and hit a numbered key to set thew channel.....rpeat fot receive RX

then reset the utility mode switch.... to play the basstation in |Locakl mode hold down both TX & RX, and choose number key...... the keyboard is seperate from the sound engine see...clever little unit huh?

Decided to use the Emax, cuz of the bigger keyboard-did as you say in the MIDI section, Kilo, and ran through stuff back to the Emax, and can trigger sounds in that baby whenever necessary. Gettin there.
OK-the bass station doesnt have a midi thru, so is there a way I can put it in the loop, still using the Emax as a controller? Im asking this before looking at the manual...Ill go do that now, but any extra help would be cool.

yup...oh no wait... in the midi section of the emax (Preset definition Menu).... you can assign the midi port to be THRU or OUT.... so if you do it like that, you get thru... but then you get no midi out for the emax keys cos it cant be out & thru... hmm.... well short iof getting a thru box, you could set the out of the basstation In to the PC... and the PC out to the emax... then set the emax to send data THRU... and In to the basstation.... the basstation does have a multitimbrel keybaord... it's a bit of a fuck about tho... get a thru box... they are cheap and heaven for the future....

Someone mentioned Fatar midi-controllers in this thread so I thought I'd ask a question along that line. I picked up a Fatar SR1 over the weekend for $50 but, as you may know, it has NO bells and whistles. All it has is a midi-out and a keyboard. Is there an external unit that can be added to this keyboard to give it mod-wheels, joystick, knobs etc?

Also, it doesn't hold the midi cable very securely in the jack and I'd like to know if it requires some special kind of cable.

Thanks
