anyhoo i work 5 nights a week taking care of those damned drug babies at the local weirdo center. It's not bad work, most of the rime, and it's $10 an hour, tax free (i'm technically not on their payroll!) plus I don't have to flip burgers and it's only an hour and a half a night...where do you work rouge?
(thanks for the info about the board...he shipped it today and evidentally there is som minimal fader noise but nothing I can't live with or get fixed, especially considering my current mixer, an old 6-channel mono Ross powered jobbie that is noisy as fuck and the faders crackle so loud it maxes out the VU in SAW!!...i never thought i'd be able to seriously get into music like this because of extensive cash requirements but after looking around i remain optimistic...things can be had cheaply! now all I need is an emax, another cheapo analog (basstation) and decent sequencer and i'm set...all for an investment of about $1500, of which I've already shelled out almost $1000...patience patience patience...!!)
also, why would anyone need all 16 mic AND line inputs? you can't use both simultaneously on a channel, can you?

does the 1604 have 16 inputs and four assignable outputs/subgroups?

bill: yeah, it's a 4 buss. so you got yer Main outs (L/R), yer CR/Phones outs, and then the subs 1-4. each sub can be assigned to either the L/R channel of the main mix. each of the 16 inputs is assignable to subs 1-2, 3-4, main, and CR/phones. not to mention the 6 aux sends, so if you're tracking to ADAT, fer example, you can easily assign your incoming signals to 8 recording channels.

the VLZ has semiparametic mids and XLR Connectors,
also the famous "vlz" circuits out of the 8 bus desks !
Holger
PS: i think i can remember that the non-VLZ has just
4 AUX sends and the other one 6
but: the old one you can get very very cheap now
