....like, wait for it, insurance......

does anyone here bother with it - if yes, who does it cheap and effectively (in britain) and any tips on it....

only say this because i'm going to be living with my stuff in a volatile area of manchester, and students are always getting broken in to....

I live in a not-so-volitile area in NYC, and would never consider going without insurance. I mean, imagine all of your kit gone one day with no way to get it back. I would be FUCKED.

Don't know about British agencies, but I'm sure any well known company has a competitive program. I pay about $250USD (150 pounds) a year.

When I rob houses I take slabs of red raw meat and chocolate dog biscuits, so don't bother with the doggy insurance

.... ha,ha,.... hi, yeep..... my dog likes anybody.... he would help to carry my equipment .....

here in Germany itīs easy: you can get an insurance for all your "in house" stuff (chair, TV, bike, pants...... including your musik-equipment as well.... about 200DM (125US$)....

IF your music kit comes to more than 10% of the total household cover, the insurance companies dont like it, and may refuse to pay saying it is specialist insurance, cos your fidges, sofas etc dont balance it out...

In the Uk..... Victor C Knight ltd
9 Wades Hill
Winchmore hill
London N22 (I think it's 22)......

1.5% of the total cover P.A........ so 10,000 = Ģ100 p.a...... premises only...... all you need is 5 lever insurance deadlock fitted.... and that's it.... they are excellent...... there is only a few other cpmpanies specialising in this field....... and Victor Knight is in London, the others are up north i reckon.....

Canadians get the raw end of the deal. Here if you make any money of your kit ie gig or release stuff you need special insurance.

Yeah, renter's insurance always seems jacked, & musician's insurance carries outside of your home. Can anybody recommend a co. in the states?

If you are going to live in a student or shared flat you will need to have an individual lock on your door with a mortice type (three pole minimum?) lock on it. No one else can have access to keys including landlord, cleaner etc. Its a bastard! I used Victor Knight for gear, but I also used it for musicians car insurance, fuck that was expensive. They think we are all druggy, drunk, night driving maniacs who never sleep and leave their car doors unlocked. Less said about that the better.
