I've just spoken to a guy who works in a studio earning £50 a week for doing ridiculous 24 hour shifts!!!
There are also so many other people around London playing gigs or working in studios for virtually nothing.... why is this business so fukkked up?
I want some cash NOW!!!
Fortunately, I don't work in this business, I just mess with it.

A few of my friends are actors, just starting to build reputations, and I always laugh at the acting business because so many people work for free just for the resume experience or to make connections or whatever. An ex girlfriend of mine is a violinist and she never had to work for free. Everything she did she got paid $50 or $100 an hour, in sharp contrast to my starving actor friends.

mainframes sounds like an ugly way to die. if the reason you want make music is strong enough, it will take you where it needs to go. why do you emulate?

I left my 9 to 5 job today - fortunately I got a job doing porn films so I'm happy for the time-being!

I want to get a job doing the music for porn films...

Dance it up a bit you know..

I'd start with the tempo around 110, just while they're getting to know each other. (usually the first 2 minutes of the film), then I'd start slowly increasing the tempo and drop in a quiet bubbling bass line. rise the tempo for about 15 mins up to about 147 bpm (as the action get hotter). Raise the filter to mid and increase the resonance a bit.

THEN... Just as the bloke about to jaz everywhere, i'd drop the whole thing out and bring in a short cheesy cliched (spelt?) snare roll for one bar.

just as he starts sharing the milk the whole track bangs back in for the full on showering close ups...

Wicked styley.

okay i was raised in england, moved to the u.s. and went to an elitist high school since the system here is wicked bad behind. flunked college due to disagreements with what they were teaching me.. now i'm a farmer so i have little intellectual stimulation, but still like to retain an air of superiority, so sometimes i use words because i think other people will be impressed by my knowledge when in fact i have little or no idea what they actually mean...

i thought emulate meant to utter or to produce... it actually means to compete; to attempt to equal or excel.

well i just suck.

what i meant for charlie to consider were his motivations for producing music. next time i'll just say so.

arrogantly, humbly,
xoxos.
