Who's this guy talking about MIDI is done? Ahhh c'mon buddy (90's Child)! Hmmm, let's just go through a small list of innovators who used and still uses MIDI:

ORB, Prodigy, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Mr Scruff, Goldie, OD 404, DJ Shadow, FSOL, Leftfield, LTJ Bukem, Moby, Beastie Boys, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Dr Dre, etc. That's just to name a few.

Guess what they all used old analogue gear too with MIDI! What's that about comin' to software where it's better? The most important thing in this message that I wanted to get accross to the 90's Child, is that all those producers that I just listed are making BIG BUCKS off their music. What about you and your software? Have you even done a live show? Thank you and good night.

You obviously don't know your producers. Lets begin.

Prodigy - Pro Tools

Crystal Method - Fuckin shite (not worth mentioning)

Chemical Brothers, Use MPC's (no midi leads involved)

Mr Scruff, Last album was pure audio

Goldie, (or shall we say Rob Playford) hasn't don't anything for the last 2 years.

OD 404, Never heard of them (unless they are that shit hard house act)

DJ Shadow, Again, uses an MPC

FSOL, Yes they use midi but did you hear their last album.

Leftfield, 2nd album was done entirely in pro tools.

LTJ Bukem, Hasn't released anything good for ages.

Moby, everything the argument against midi should be. Fuckin shiye.

Beastie Boys - use MPC's

Daft Punk - Use MPC's and their dad used to be a top engineer

Basement Jaxx use audio. I've read an article describing their productio techniques. Pure audio dsp mate.

Dr Dre, again uses an MPC.

Get your facts before you post false posts. Next?!

None of those producers use MPCs exclusively.

And ProTools is no good without sounds to feed into it. Contrary to popular belief the Virus TDM can't do everything.

MPC = MIDI Production Center (sampler/ sequencer/ drum machine) it's still MIDI.

Chemical Brother's uses a TB 303, JP 8000, ummm, yeah there's MIDI in there. I don't think I need to comment on any of the other remarks you made since they were pretty lame.

So, most of the producers I listed are "shite" to you. Let me hear you do any better. I'm sure they're making a whole lot more money off their music than some little anti-MIDI punk who has bad grammer and probably works at a fast food franchise. By the way, you make a mean chesseburger! Thanks! ha ha ha

P.S. Liam Howlett's gear list (I'm sure MIDI is involved somewhere in there):

the more interesting and important question is whether we should view virtual instruments as midi or audio. that's where the debate gets REALLY deep.

Hu hu hu !!!
I can't see that there's no Midi involved in MPCs, above all when used in association with hardware synths.
Does any of the top list guys you mentioned really use only software gears ?
Really nothing hardware ?
Not even a MIDI keyboard for controlling these softwares ?
I wouldn't bet a cent on that :-) !!

heh heh this thread is funny... lets all get irate!!!

dude probably read that interview where BT whines about midi accuracy and went to town with it.

so i suppose you play all your stuff direct to audio instead of sequencing it :-)

even yer softsynths use midi....

i should go read the other thread now for entertainment purposes.

I don't know that moby's an argument against
midi. moby could be an argument against
samples. or songs. or guitars. or shaved
heads. or having a band. or hiring that singer
from no doubt. or trying to sound like a 25 year
old bowie record. ultimately moby's an
argument against moby. ha ha.
