I know a thread like this comes up every now and then. Every new peice of technology has its pros and cons. But dont you think the PC music thing is just going a little too far.
It seems to have got to the point where you need to be more of an IT specialist than a musician. Not that I'm moaning about it, but if it carries on like this I think things will get out of hand.
I mean for fucks sake, if I want to create a word document or an excel spreadsheet I dont use my synths to do it. I use a PC. So why does everyone feel it nessasry to use bloody PC's to create music. Go out and buy the bloody instruments rather than shagging it badly with a wanky old soundcard.
I'll shut up now.

I use the PC because it is sooo much cheaper and flexible than dedicated hardware. At least here in Canada. Like every two weeks there seems to be some "NEW" program for free that pushes the envelope of my PC's capabilities a little farther. Though the other side is I get too caught up in learning these new programs and have no time to tune samples/compose. Really the only thing that bothers me about pc programs is some of them make it too easy to make songs or rip off someone else.
