Im not totally happy with the way SJ edited it in the mix, but...fuck it. Its OUT there.

Moonshine A&R head John Grauman(spelling?) is a nice guy. My buddy had some complications dealing with Moonshine at times, but it launched his carreer and he is doing well now. They are on my list too, but John told me to have a whole albumn done before submiting. Simply Jeff..."check out the hook ya check this out.., checka checkka the hook ya check this out!" I was playing him back and 95 and all those funky techno tribe boys.

ya I know he aint in funky techno tribe, but he and Dj Dan have done some stuff together. I think the old track I was singing is called "Left Hook" It's on a compilation called Excaliber. It is one of my favorate old tracks. It's got the bass line sample from an overlords song going in the back. Who did you submit too, how did it happen? My freind gave one of John's associates a mixed cd. A year later they listened to it and called him up. He released 3 mixed cd's and four singles since then. He's talented but a little right place at the right time stuff was at work.

He's ing with ya! This is news! I'll be damn sure to let everyone here know when I am going to have a track on a compilation. My freinds moonshine CD's sold over 50k copies. All 3. So to have your name in the hands of 50k people all over the world is big deal when you start releasing you records. Most people who buy records were first turned on to artists they like from CD's they heard.

Moonshine Records? Are they anything to do with Moonshine Movies, the people that put out the Mixmasters DVD's? I've just bought one of those from the US, cos it's not available here in the UK. Typical innit - a British television proggie, and I've got order the DVD from the States.

I saw Keoki on my drive home past the Hollywood bowl. He was in a 3 series convertible with a personalized 'keoki' liscence plate. That's where all their money went.

well the dirt is simple, signed a track to em (well I signed it in april, they signed it 5/14), and the contract gave them 3 months "from delivery of masters" to pay, which is pretty lenient payment schedule according to other labels who I had asked. So at the very latest contractually, with me being patient, 8/14 would supposedly be the absolute latest they could pay before breech.

Since then I have sent an average of 3 emails and called there (btw, they dont have a number that you can call to speak to a human, its ALL voicemail!) at least twice per week. All I get for an answer from their business manager is :"no answer yet"... scary, well, I will continue on that path and keep pressing them... and funnily enough, they HAVE already used the track on a ferry corsten's live spundae dvd, and that came out in late july.

It's no wonder people want to say screw labels and go do their own thing...

actually, the mix that came out on vinyl _was_ mine, but the one Jeff used on the CD was done in a "real" studio and sounded quite clinical.

sorry to hear about the mess, sean. you can sue though.

I COULD sue, in theory, but not exactly... the contract has a clause :". If any provision of this Agreement shall be held void, invalid or inoperative, no other provision of this Agreement shall be affected as a result thereof, and accordingly, the remaining provisions of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect as though such void, invalid or inoperative provision had not been contained herein. Seller shall not re-record any composition embodied in a Master for a period of at least 3 years from the date hereof."

This sucks, because another clause states: "Any claim, dispute or disagreement arising out of, connected with, or in respect of this Agreement may be brought only in the courts within the State of California or the federal courts within the State of California, which courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction thereof, and each party hereby waives any claim that such courts do not have jurisdiction or are an inconvenient forum. "

meaning if im really going to go that far, I'd have to do it in cali... being here in NY, that sucks, another option is the government's own better business bureau.....

about the phones... I asked the person i deal with there point blank via email , "is there a number i can call that isnt gonna get screened by a voicemailbox?" and the reply was "no" verbatim.

isnt that nice? I'm gonna wait it out tho... no sense going nuts when there really could be a chance that their intentions are right but times are tough.

I know its only been a month.. i should be more patient, especially with how everything is, i should have expected this.

And broken silence, not exactly, its the backdrop track that plays during the sldieshow, which is on the dvd part of the cd/dvd combo. So like i said, kind of, but not exactly... still I'd be lying if i said i hadnt pissed my pants when i heard about this... I wasnt even told that it was on it, i found out from a friend that had bought it...

i heard that moonshine has folded it's colored labels
(moonshine green, etc.) and only is releasing stuff under
the main brand. hard times in the industry.
