Yeah, it's real alright.. believe they were at the MESSE last year no? Anyway I've seen some pics from people standing beside the thing. Ugly piece of kit tho.

Worth the effort? Or worth holding out for something like the receptor or plugzilla?

If it runs Windows (or MacOS for that matter) then I think you should stay away.

Can you play games on it? You could make your own gaming tracks as you play.

Bad idea. In five years the "computer" will be worthless. On the other hand, my 20 year old Sequential Multi-Trak is still a viable piece of kit. Keep you keyboard and desktop computer separate. Plugzilla is a host, a DSP-farm-card-in-a-box kind of like a CreamWare Scope - not a full blown computer so its lifespan has the potential to be longer. My $0.02.

Plus these things are custom-made for their application. Anything that relies on a general-purpose OS is not going to cut it for me in a live performance environment.

Good points all...

I'm more curious about Receptor now, because whilst it is a VST host in a hardware box (the creamware stuff runs proprietry creamware "plugins" which means the user currently has limited scope - pardon the pun - because they're not nearly as many creamware plugins as VSTIs), they're getting round the problem Plugzilla has concerning just how you display the potentially unlimited array of controls that VSTIs have...

Its a hardware box with VGA monitor and mouse support.. interesting.. :-)

ARGH where's my general purpose, VST/DX/RTAS/ANYTHINGNATIVE DSP card? How hard could it possibly be?

Yes, very. A box like that that is reliable and cheap enough would definately make me think my all-hardware strategy. I won't be selling any of my pieces, but I probably won't be buying more hardware either..

Whats the point ?

The minute it has a Windows logo on it.......... it becomes a PC with a keyboard attached.

How can they guarentee that it will be more stable than your AMD PC ?

OK, it takes away processing power from your PC, but so does 'freeze' in SX.

I'd rather see stuff like the Roland VariOS which fuses hardware and software rather than just emulating a PC.

I agree with psylichon, stick this on a PC card with NO PC load and I'll be impressed.
