plugzilla is going for 3k, man I could build a SICK pc for 3 grand. Every pc I've ever built has been on a under 1000$ budget.

I've seen this page before.

It looks just like a regular mini pc in a rack mount. Just look at the back panel pictures.

neat idea

you know...

I dont understand why someone doesnt make something like this with ADAT IO..or firewire, or M-Lan...

and...digital desks with digital send/return...say 8channel? then you dont have all this conversion going on...

We could all build a sick PC for that amount of dosh.. but ultimately it'll be running Windows which isn't crash proof..

Apparently this runs some linux variant... the proof of the pudding will be in whether it IS crash proof and trust worthy when gigged etc.

That may be what we're paying top $$$ for...

Wonder how software licencing will work though, and stuff reliant of disk libraries ($pectra$onic$ spring to mind)

I hope it will come in a choice of colors. That color doesn't really work in my rack. Maybe the FS1R will go with it but it's taking a chance.

Wouldn't an assignable 8x8 audio interface do the same thing for less?

dunno...would it?

youd still need a VST host in the plugin box...and then..routing the sends and returns...

aww hell I dunno, man

its all just way too fuckin complicated for me

Copy that. I won't ditch my hardware synths for that very reason - simplicity. Funny thing, my recent experience with softsynths has gotten me excited about going back to my hardware synths and SoundDiver. Go figure.

I think you're missing the point Mick. If this thing runs VST Instruments in a hardware box under a stable, non M$ environment then you're looking at the beginnings of an incredibly powerful and versatile instrument.

There's no way they can get a two line lcd front panel display to show useful information so the VGA output is a good idea - mebbe it runs some native kind of "Vstack-type" vst shell or something.. its all very vague but I'm mildly excited to say the least...

A PC is probably a better option cost wise, but how many of us want to gig one of those?

For me at the moment though, there are just too many unanswered questions on how they fully plan to impliment this "jack of all trades" ...
