Hey-

What's the best way to make 2 mono channels a stereo channel? do you hard-pan both of them? Whatever I do, my L-R delay won't fucking pan!!!

Prolly a dumb question, but I gotta know..

Thanks

I do indeed hard pan both of them, when I'm using two mono mixer channels for a stereo input...

BUT... if the source is mono, you can do the same if you have two mono sources... however, if it's a stereo effect, it HAS to come out in stereo, or it won't work... at least not in a proper effect-sy sort of way.

not sure how you have this configured so maybe some of this is a bit off the mark for your deal.. shrug.

not sure if I understand, but...the only real way youre gonna hear any difference is if theres a difference between the L and R channels

like a chorus or the like...takes each side and delays them slightly from each other...

dunno...IM missing the point here

well i have my JP connected to 2 mono channels both hard panned...and the L-R delay is just flat in the middle...not panning as i would like. Is it impossible to achieve what I want out of 2monos?

so the stereo outs of a synth is connected to to mono inputs on a mixer, both of which are panned accordingly?

theres no reason whatsoever why that shouldnt work perfectly.

some mixers dont even have stereo channels, so you always are panning pairs.

this delay youre talking about..is an effect in the JP?

^^

oh-

I literally spent at least 2 hours fucking with the JP, checking logic, switching stuff around, messing with the mixer etc etc vigorously trying to figure out what the hell was wrong. That makes it kinda worse too...

nah man. every single one of us has done something

one of mine?

came in to work one day, back when I had a HW mixer. Fired up the main power (everything should come on with this one) and started to work. hit play on the sequence...what? no sound!

so...checked cables, this that and the other thing...for a LONG time...probably an hour or so

FINALLY looked at the back of the mixer. power cable had come loose somehow. Didnt notice that there were no channel lights goin or anything...

SO...all due to a loose power cable.

Ive got more, believe me. And I dont even smoke weed!

hehe.... i once spent two scary hours trying to master a track in ProTools that i previously recorded with a band. man, it was sounding so weird, snare was much louder than i thought i'd mixed it, all my stereo fx have dissapeared, etc etc... when i realised i forgot to pan the two channels L-R!! (this was pre- stereo track pt, when you had to imort everything as dual mono files)

but yeah... whenever something doesnt work, check power and audio cables first.

I thought I lost a multi on the Virus once (forgot to save changes). I spent like two hours trying to re-write the patches before I figured out that I had accidentally selected the wrong multi....

Luckily for me, I wasn't editing a multi I needed for a different track

Happens to everyone - In fact that just happened like two weeks ago.

Just last night...

Working on a friends computer, and the bios won't recognize the HD... can't see it, won't see it. I'm digging in the bios, even manually set the cyclinders and all of that... still nothing... I'm all frustrated and pissed, and it turns out the ribbon cable has unplugged from the MoBo... shrug...

I've even spent an hour once franticaly trying to understand why I was getting no sound when the monitors were turned off!

we all do it man.

just lay off the herb until things are where you want them!

AHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!! good one!

at a practice once, on an eighth of shrooms...played 2 whole songs a half step off on my bass

thought it sounded funny cuz I was high!

no one else noticed. good thing it was only a practice

OR...at a huge outdoor party in "the oil fields" here...played a set, and we forgot to play one of our songs..so...I had just taken my bass off...put it back on...started playin...but..I had turned my amp off! got about 1/4 way through before I realized
