Folks I'm sure you have some first hand experience with these.

I know that these LCDs have an "exact" resolution, like 1280*1024 for 17" ones. What happenes if you set the display to 1024*768? I guess it has to convert the picture, but the real question is: how does it look like? Does it have jagged edges and double lines (horrible) or it does some interpolation ? In other words: does the image quality decreases if you use it in some other resolution?

hahaa

DZ, me too! I was trippin one night whne I was a kid and realized it was "kiss the sky" and it made SO MUCH SENSE, man!!! Never understood the homoerotic thing before that, but just figured, hell it's Jimmy, what'ya gonna do?

I'm on a flat screen at work with 1280*1040 and it looks great, but I can barely see it. If you're on windows you can change the font size, text size, etc... and once you've done that it looks NICE.

What's this I hear about those friggin monitors leaking plasma over time and burning out after about 5 years? Is it a myth or are we all being duped by a pretty bauble?

Plasma TVs will. PC panels are TFT, not plasma.

Often CRT monitors don't last 5 years either. I heard the life expectancy of the average tft screen sold nowadays is about 3 years.

Oh yeah... check out http://www.kissthisguy.com/

man i saw some 19" flats for like 360 ex vat the other day!.. it's getting so two budget 15" flats and a dual card is not too much of a huge upgrade now and it's SO worth it.

Very good thing about tft imho is that if you put speakers right next to them they won't up like a crt...
My absolute 2's are supposedly shielded... I still have to leave about 25cm between them and the monitor or my colours will go all psychedelic.

We've got TFTs in notebooks over 5 years old without problems. My TFTs in my laptop and panel at work are both about 3 years old with no degradation in quality.
