yup - to facilitate the new site we need genre's for rock/metal/indie & acoustic/world/folk styles to be added

so I thought i'd prune down the genre's prior to adding new ones

you'll notice there's less genre choices (more to be removed)

I'm taking it back to basic's... there will be just one TRANCE category, and just one HOUSE category etc

don't worry - i've written a script to re-associate your user profiles and user_tracks with the new genre's

so if you had tracks listed with FLAVA = psy-trance, or hard-trance etc, those are now gone and you'll find your track or profile associated with just: TRANCE

sorry if that makes you a trance-head - heh

Good idea. Making the descriptions a little more vague and generic beats trying to cover every genre, sub genre and psuedogenre.

Actually, in all seriousness Trance should come in just two flavas - Bearded (Goa, Trance, Psy_ and Non-bearded (Cheesey Euro).

And what about that new Goa Drum n'bass style - Beardstep?

I logged in as you and updated you ONE flava - 'techno' - try it again... there was a gap in the form feild due to variable output not spaced properly after i was messing wit it. Mebbe your browser is sensitive to that where others are not? - I changed it, so try it now mate.

aye captain...i just tried uploading again at 8:10 and 8:15 this sunday morning. first time i used house & idm as the flavas and the next time just idm.

this is the error message in it's entirety:

mac tester #2 here.

g3 beige desktop...running 9.2.2 and netscape 7.0.2
using panic audion 3 as my mp3 player.

gonna try completely trashing real player now
as i'm unable to play mp3s from either browser...even when i take the file and drag it onto audion as i was doing last week.

man...it's a jungle of stuff to deal with!!??
how do you do it?

I had a one week struggle to find out why on earth I cannot send mails. And then I realised that my antivirus software was blocking the port which was used by smtp to communicate.

One good strategy maybe is to try to use as few software as possible. And one other is to not use certain software at all cost. Realplayer is one good example

(Yeah, I know. There's plenty of .ra streams out there. But this has nothing to do with the fact that Real Inc. will rot in hell for their software)

i trashed the mo-fo and yet it still seems to have an evil fragment left in my system which wants to act as if IT were my default player.
how this occurred i'm unsure as i've almost never used real player for the last year. checked my browser preferences and it's not in there...so...i'm guessing it's socialists..or worse yet>>>> commie pinkos!

I'm not a mac guru, but re-installing Netscape might help. I use Mozilla on a PC . (Or you might want to check if there is a Mozilla build for OS 9 instead.)

bloody mac's - ironic aint it - Berklee music school announced all their students will have a mac with OSX now - (some PR tosh like; "To embrace the new technology in music... blah blah")

I find it incredible that computer music is actualy going backwards now after forging ahead to make itself more popular with ordinary people. What else can you call it when two major sequencers sell to apple who have a tiny minority proportion of the market.

That to me is going backwards.

k, fact of the matter is Apple makes huge educational discounts to get their systems into schools like Berklee to keep their stronghold on the Pro-Audio marketplace. If you learn on a Mac, you will want to use a Mac professionally. Somehow, that never got ingrained into my system while at Berklee, tho.... ;)

clay--trash Realplayer and Netscape preferences in the system folder and try rebuilding your desktop. that oughtta do it. god I hate OS9.

read about file-type associations - Real -player has simply hijacked all your audiofile types. you could have realplayer on your system AND something like winamp (or windows media player of course)

You just need to associate mp3 & m3u filetypes with winamp or win media player.
