(but i've never used it). to do a sysex dump it goes
something like this:
PC to CZ101: Are you there? I want to do a sysex dump.
CZ101: Here I am! Send me data!
PC to CZ101: Ok, here it is......
i.e. you have to ping it before you send it data.
Seems weird, but maybe just because it's so old
and it has to "prepare" or something for the transfer.
The sysex strings are available, but you have to be
able to program it to do the handshaking.
There's a program called SoundLib which you can
use to dump banks to CZ synths, I used it long ago
(not for long, because it was shareware and I'd rather
program my own...I had 4 carts so it wasn't a problem

In cubase enable SysEx (Options / Filters) and switch to record. Done this send the SysEx data manually from CZ.

send real-time sysex to the cz-101 to do filter
sweeps, etc....forget it. It won't work. you may not
have noticed this while programming, but every time
a parameter changes, the cz-101 RETRIGGERS THE NOTE.
this is very annoying. i'm not sure if you can even
control the individual parameters, I think you have
to dump the whole patch back and forth.
just so you know...the cz101 is a nice synth, and cheap,
but its midi is pretty archaic....
