Hi
I've always used samples for this but i want to make a slow rising (pitch) line sound (used on a build ups), its gets higher and higher, then the breaks kick in and i want the sound to stay at that pitch
I know its portamento but how do i do it so i press a key and it just climbs?

not sure if i'm clear, have a Nova II and a V station VSI

also, i cant seem to record controller sweeps with the V station...it never keeps them, anyone know how to record them so it can be heard on playback

cheers for helping guys
Mark

check out whoosh at the url.. set a high mod env attack, and set sustain at the max level.. then route the eg to a positive amount to osc pitch.

you could use portamento, but you'll have to have a synth with a long max porta setting and trigger the 'top' note almost instantly after the first one to get a smooth glide, or pull the level down for the first note..

another way to do it would be to automate a pitch bend..

the cool thing about using an envelope is that you'll be able to achieve different ramp shapes w/o reliance on your host's automation curve options.
