I need to get a new efx unit. The Lexicon MPX-100 seems a good choice (sub-£250), but I'm also tempted by the Digitech Quad4. Any advice very much appreciated.

If you want 4 individual FX units then go for the digitech. If you want quality then go for the Lexicon. The Lexicon is only really better in terms of reverb.

The Alesis Wedge is pretty cool too, they sold them aoff in the US for $99 (RRP $399), now they're
doing the same in England for 149 pounds... I must say though, mine used to crash a lot when
I used both inputs...since I've started using one input (2 outputs) I haven't had any problems.

I'd agree with Rouge - they're both in my rack but I really only ever use the Lexicon for its reverb the quad's far more powerful in general multi fx terms. Having said that I got the quad first and its full dual processor stereo reverb ain't bad.

Thanks for everyone's comments - went for the Digitech Quad4 in the end. Very nice too. Few cabling complications though!

ok, you already bought something, but i'll still
throw in a couple cents: the higher end korg effects
are nice too (a1/a2/a3). not easy to use, but
pretty programmable and can be good sounding.
the stereo reverb on my a2 sounds as good as the
one on my reflex (lexicon)...
