Unveiled at AES - Cubase VST/24 4.0

AES, Amsterdam - Steinberg strikes again! A combination of fast development, available high quality digital hardware and the desire to bring the very best to the user as soon as possible has culminated in the unveiling of the next generation of Cubase Native Audio Processing and MIDI sequencing technology for Power Macintosh.

Optimised for the high level performance of the current G3 systems, Steinberg has worked closely with Apple to get the very best from the system in order to meet the highest demands of pro audio professionals.

Cubase VST/24 4.0 offers 96 Tracks of digital audio in 24 bit, 96kHz quality with each channel able to utilise up to 4 bands of brand new hi-end EQ for maximum dynamic range and subtle sound design.

Recordings can be shaped with up to four PlugIn inserts per channel, plus 8 Aux sends for addressing up to 8 effects or PlugIns in the Aux Effects rack. The new group mixers offer 4 insert slots for effects and PlugIns allowing easy grouping whilst at the same time providing a good general overview of the production process. The master section offers bussing to the individual outputs of a wide range of supported digital audio cards like the Korg 1212, Sonorus STUD I/O, Lexicon Studio, Yamahaís DSP Factory etc.

The internal resolution has been increased to stunning 15360 ppqn (pulses per quarter note) for accurate, sample precise cutting of audio segments.

These are some general technological facts. But the true revolution hides in the details of the program. These include a whole host of MIDI and Audio editing functions, including a controller editor for detailed editing of almost any parameter of your recordings, a new MIDI-Track mixer and Drag and Drop throughout the entire program for both audio parts and MIDI-Events. The scoring section has another major upgrade including enhanced layout options, symbol palettes, new ways of inputting lyrics, choice of notation styles, plus a variety of preferences which can be set up in advance for faster working Cubase VST/24 4.0 is shipping after AES in June 98 and is available from any Steinberg Dealer worldwide.

Cubase VST/24 - The new 24-Bit/96 kHz Flagship

From the next Version 3.6 the new Cubase VST/24 3.6 for Windows 95 will replace Cubase Audio XT as the professional Audio Recording, Editing and Processing System with the pro-Quality Cubase MIDI-Sequencing Technology.

Cubase VST/24 will offer recording, playback and File-Export in 24-Bit while the internal processing even goes up to 32-Bit Floating point accuracy. With the use of a 24-Bit capable I/O-Device Cubase VST/24 fulfils the highest demands for clarity of sound. Using the WaveLab 24-Bit class EQ-1 throughout the program guarantees for best sounding recordings in 24 Bit/96kHz resolution.

Cubase VST/24 3.6 for Windows of course takes advantage of the high definiton audio possibilities of ASIO compatible hardware like Lexicon Studio, Sonorus Stud/IO, Yamaha DSP Factory, Korg 1212, RME Digi 32 and many others. Unveiled at AES - Cubase VST/24 4.0

How many megs a second will that use? I guess it's time to get a bigger, faster hard drive.

15360 ppn ??? Damn, I can only imagine how sloppy that would sound. Give me 96 or even 48ppn any day. The higher the resolution, the worse the timing accuracy.

96 tracks also??? I think I'll stick with my Vestax HDR6, with only 6 tracks and a 340mb hard drive. "Very reliable!".
