.......enable the user to tie note length to amplitude envelope release? It would make things alot easier especially on drum vsti's.

I understand what greg is saying, but I don't really understand the first gripe. What synth are you talking about and why doesn't amplitude envelope release control note length?

hmm... i dunno what D means, but i still havent found a good vsti where i can assign velocity to modulate env attack or release. well, not one that has all the other bits and bobs *and* that in any case...

vice-versa i think.. an circuit that generates modulation data based on the duration of a held note, which would generate more natural releases for perc. played on a midi controller..

oc my question is why aren't you a vsti designer? synthedit makes it so simple a 5 year old capable of paying attention would be able to sort it   www.synthedit.com - for free

always beat me why eg segments weren't popular modulation dests.. but they're not :p your circuit.. i'd use an eg w/ a long attack, ie. rising value then an s&h at the moment of key release to feed to the release rate.. the pulse-to-s&h at release might be a bit tricky to sort out for polyphonic use..

What about z3ta? It's mod matrix is pretty extensive.
