Got an A3000 and the extra outs, background hiss is muchworse than my CS1X and about the same as my Super Bass Station. Surely it should be silent, it acutally seems like the extra outs are noisier than the main STOUT. Im going to have to buy some top leads and prove this definately. Know two other guys with A3K's and they've noticed something similar. Also I have to have my gains on max on the mixer to get a proper signal.
Ive checked there no eq and the volume on the STOUT and Assignable outs are 127. The volume knob is also max.

Any thoughts ?

Yes, those outs are noisy. And you will have to turn gain up. NO work around for that.
Check the a3k mailing list for more people with that same problem.

Very interesting!!!
This has put my plans to get the A3000 on halt ... maybe I'll have to go towards the Akai route!

Check with the mailing lists. www.teklab.com/~a3k

the people seem to get by with this problem. It seems small to the overall goodness of the sampler.
See what the hell they are doing and what they have to say about it. The problem only
lies within the expandable out unit.

sounds to me like a problem ...... that hiss is obviously caused by lack out gain at the outs (seperate)... any bit of kit crabnked up to compensate for lo output will exhibit this characteristic as you are ramming up the amps on the outputs....... hmmm..... seems like there are a few bugs with the A in that case, the disk (floppy) drives seem to be a tad dodgy too in a few cases i've heard of...

Using a factory reset (on/off+command+program) has enabled me to reset the control data for the A3000, it now registers a perfect signal with normal gain. Hiss is now less than my CS1X and is more than acceptable.

Try it if your having problems

I'm now considering again.
Its not compatible with Recycle though is it?
I've heard it is with WaveSurgeon though... what are the results like?

dunno about recycle... but it has it's own re-cycle facility built in.... takes a loop, splits it into notes and assigns 'em to note numbers so i understand.....
