Hi!
This is MC/DJ Phallus (the anal one)... I bought
an MPC2000 some six months ago (some of you might
remember...) and I've gotten really good at
making songs, scratching (with my Technics) and
rapping...
I want to buy something new, as I'll have lots of
money soon, about 45,000 Belgian francs (about
1500 dollars I guess...)I want cool analog synth
sounds. So what should I get??? I was thinking
about the following synths:
Juno 160 (SH), Rave-O-Lution 309, Polymorph, or
when I've got some more money, an Audity 2000 or
whatever it's called - I heard it sounds pretty
new and inovative, and I like originallity...
What about the Supernova? (I know it's a bit more expensive than what I can afford, but I can wait.)
Pretty soon, I'll be able to borrow two Roland
synths, D50 and E-66, for about as long as I want.
(From my girl's dad and mom...)
Would they do the job? I know they are both digit.
synths, but the D50 sounds sort of analog from
what I've heard... And I could use them both for
stuff like pianos etc...
If these synths would do the job, I could spend my
money on something else. Would the EWS-64 XL be a
smart thing to buy? Or an 8-track or something???
Maybe some old sampler? What about a compressor,
enhancer, reverb, multi-effects...????? What
should I buy??????????
Thanks a whole lot!

well y'all know i'm attached to my juno like sedusa is to his sh2...............i'd reccomend the juno 'cause it makes nice sounds and is cheap; you could buy some more shit with $1500 too.

on second thought, buy a farm. farm life is much more rewarding than the club scene. then give me your gear, marry a fat Swiss lady and have lots of cute little phallic mc's runnin around...then GIVE ME YOUR MPC!!!!!!!

if you are not planning to perform all your staff just live you should go for a decent soundcard....pesonally I can't recommend EWS it still have some bugs and complete version of sample editor isn't ready yet...I guess Gina/Darla is a better choice especially if you want just a hard disk recorder.....I'm waiting for sw1000xg though..

get a mixing desk (say 16/18 channel) with lots of auxsends, get a compressor, a reverb, a delay, lots of leads (how many outs does the mpc have???). that'll cost all of 600quid - i guess that that's about 900/1000 dollars??

so you have $500 left over - you could get a cheap fm synth and something analog for that.

i know that that's not really the answer you were expecting *but* trust me - the mixer and the fx are as creative as a synth i reckon - especially if you're a dj anyway and used to fitting things together realtime with pitch/crossfade controls - you'll find it easy to pick up....

the other thing, i'd try and get all the fx in different boxes - more flexibility - i just picked up reverb, compression and delay/pitchshift in three units over the weekend for 120 pounds ($160??) and they're all wicked...

i'd avoid the soundcard for now. much more fun to play with stuff that works when you touch it than doesn't work unless you're soem pc-genius.....

even just with a simple simple drum track, having the fx above and the mixing desk unleashes some mad demons - your drums suddenly become infinitely tweakable. anyway....
