Hi, I'm thinking of getting a MPC2k but need to know something that I can't find out anywhere on the net. Can a pattern have tracks of differing lengths, eg track1 = 1 bar, trk 2 = 16bars, trk 3 = 8 bars etc etc. Any info greatly appreciated. I'm sick of Cubase and the like for sequencing and heard the MPC is pretty slick, any comment welcome, and how do MPC users find the song creation progress compared to say cubase (aside from the obvious lack of graphical editing etc)

Cheers

Well I want them to loop at differing lengths, so if I did what you said would only the first four measures loop on track 2 and the rest of the pattern loop on 8 bars? Know what I mean?

Yeah the RS7000 is nice but I don't like the idea of lots of waveforms I'd never use, ditto the RM1x and anything by Roland ('cept mebbe the MV8000)

just trigger the short loop twice or however many times to match the length of the sequence.

but if its not a loop, but a sequence instead

yes, the RS can do that. I thought the MPC could too but I might be mistaken

no, you'd need to copy for example the first bar on say track two 3 times (this is one handling) if you have a four bar seq.
