The synth sounds great from the little I played on it. Having trouble finding feedback on the net about it. Anyone know of the beast? Recommendations?

I talked to oberheim and they said they will have sound files available next week on their web site.

An original ob12? The thing is a beast, a real powerhouse for sound design. As I recall, the thing has something like 5 LFO's per voice, and some wacky modulation routing options, similar to the Expander in most respects. I saw a coupe of guys do a really sick ambient set with just a pair of Expanders gettin wierd. If you've got the ridiculous amount that most people ask for that sort of treasure, why not, but that's definately not a gigging piece.

PS did you try the hyperreal archives for info?

this is the new oberheim virtual analog, not an old model.

something hard to describe about the oberheim analog sound. i havent heard this va, but i speculate as to whether something "analog" ends up lost in the virtual part. those classic oberheim analog filters... could they be recreated?

Oh, I see. Well, nothing nreally sounds like old Obe's. Very tasty, delicate sounds. Nice. As for the new one? don't know anything about it, but an OBm-x Is a great box.

Woa! This post lit up. Thanks guys. I do have to get in and listen to it again. I don't know what the old OBs are like, but again at a 1st listen, I was impressed. Thing is it was in a store with lots of other synts being played so you know how that is. Wish I knew about it's OS in terms of bugs, or hopefully non-existant bugs.
