I am have trouble trying to assign a patch in the XP30 to a seperate midi channel.... eg: I wnat patch 15 to midi ch1 and patch 78 to midi ch2.....

how do I go about doing this?

Copy the POP performance (preset A-12 i think) to User performance 001. This way you get MIDI Channel 1 on Part 1 and so on. Then use EDIT + 4 to change the patch.
