New versions of OS for SNVII KBD, Rack & NovaII KBD's is online in the Downloads section of the Novation site.

NOTE:

Be sure to download the correct version for the unit you have!!!
I.E. Do not expect the NovaII KBD version to work in the Supernova Rack!!!!

NOTE:

These are only for the models listed SNVII KBD, Rack & NovaII KBD's, they will not work in older units.

WHAT IT DOES:

Serious improvement to the Phaser effect.

Serious improvement to the Ensemble effect.

Serious improvement to the Rotary Speaker effect.

New sound set that makes use of the new features.

Sorry this upgrade does not fix the Local Off/Arp bug. we will post a fix for this soon.

For instructions on what to do look in the troubleshooting part of your Manual and follow the instructions in "Upgrading the OS"

Any problems with these files let me know

Cheers,

Phill Macdonald

gawd, i feel sorry for you original sn owners. i have already been caught once with akai when i bought the s5000 on release date. big mistake and lost loads of money as a consequence of the massive price drops.

anyway, the "local off/arp bug" in my sn2 is as i said a fundamental problem and hope this can be addressed very soon as the sn2 is my master keybaord and i simply cannot do what i want whilst this bug exists.

i don't care for the new os until i have the main problem fixed.

anyway, i'm new to novation and will hold my breath before making damning comments. but be prepared, raaarr.

well dont feel sorry for me mate - i'm not one of these wankers sitting in a bedroom pretending i'm a techno star and waiting around for OS updates that i dont need so i can FINALLY 'make it'- what a load of old toffee - this subject has been done to death.

tell us what it is the OS update will allow you to acheive what you CANNOT acheive now ??... do tell, i'm fascinated... but i know you cant tell me that cos if you'd thought about it for even a second you would not have posted as you did.

i'll go further in fact... if you CANNOT make decent music with a Nova series synth 'as is'... GIVE UP !!! -

I think that what they expect is that one of the special buttons will have a function that will be called "Make Number 1 Hit" so that they can spend more time p*ssing all over the manufacturers - it seems they don't have enough time to do it now.

Really, I understand if there are bugs and whatnot. However, there doesn't need to be that kind of tone. Yes, you're not happy but throwing insults will not get you any further ahead than you are now.

It's a good thing that Phill has a thick skin. If you are truly unhappy and this synth can't help you make music, then sell it and buy something that you think will. Aside from that, you can be frank and honest without hurling the insults.

Hey...Special waves...

Please tell me what "Special waves" you think would be good...

I would really be interested...

My Jupiter is a great analogue synth and has only the basics...but then its an ANALOGUE SYNTH...but then, is not the SN a VA synth?

When you look at other VA synths that have "Lots" of olaternative waves...maybe you should have a look at how many Factory progs actually use em...2-5%?

Really useful huh?

I'm not saying we are not going to implement em, I'm just saying...

What do you think would be (Most importantly) REALLY USEFUL???

Well just to play Devil's Advocate, the wavetable stuff in the Waldorf Q is being well received.

I do agree that the Nova is pretty much finished though and these people should get on with making some music instead of moaning. They're just looking for something to blame for their own lack of talent or productivity. If it's that 'bad' maybe they should sell it and let some other musician make use of it.

I will now bow my head because I'm about to play the role of a sidebuster.
Phill has made a larger contribution to
well being of all Novation Chat participants than any individual to date. We are more than lucky to have someone in our presence that knows the straight dope.... factory style! They sell punching bags at any K-mart or sporting goods store, and I guarantee that no matter how much they are abused, they will never get excessively offended and do something like cease their visitations and valuable input in our chat room. By the way, I am busting super fat shit without the use of any special waveforms. My sounds still come sick without all the promises that the sales brochures proposed. I am content knowing that I got my money's worth on
this bad ass synth. Phill - you're top notch and I hope to keep hearing from you. YOU %#$@%$!!!YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MY UNHAPPINESS, YOU, YES YOU MADE THE PROMISES THAT NOVATION HAS HELPED YOU TO BREAK AND NOW YOU MUST PAY $@%#%^@^#$. Just Kidding

Respectfully,
Michael

well k, it appears i've walked into a bit of a storm here. ok, i retract my statement of feeling sorry and would like to point out exactly what my view is having now looked back through old posts (i'm new here don't forget).

i've bought my snII and am completely and utterly happy with it....except it needs a bug fix. it's a real bug as phil has kindly confirmed and i'm sure is being worked on.

let me make it clear though, when this bug is fixed i will NOT demand or expect any future os upgrades unless there are any further bugs uncovered. i bought the machine for the features it has now not what it might have in the future.

i don't understand this current trend in the last few years of raging people demanding os upgrades. it never happened in the past because it simply wasn't that achievable. no machine is futureproof and it's a fact of life that support will eventually stop and focus will start on newer models.

...................but i still need my bug fixed!

true, i fcan see (and it is 100% justified) a person gets mad if the hardware is released with a bad error or really with missing features that prevent it from utilising it's current functions... but there is definately something to be said about this trend you point out - alot of our techno 'hero's' started out and made siminal albums with synths like the korg monopoly - so upgrades available there... no 'special' waves etc - London underground has built & established an entire genre of garage based on old FM & analog mono's & a smapler - simple stuff... we aspire to produce work alongside these people yet some users would never consider even starting out with a sdampler & a sh101 or a sampler & a monopoly, or polysix etc etc... man fuck, i got my first deal & record out using a 1/4" Fostex two track, a bass guitar & delay unit, a mixer & a drumbox !!! -

kids today eh !!.. cor... when i was a lad there was 149 of us living in cardboard box in t'middle o' road !!.... every morning we used to get up and hour before we went to bed, lick road clean wi' tongue, go t' work in t' mill, 27 hours perday, AND pay mill owner fer permission t' come t' work.... etc etc
