Ok,i know about the classics but what
would you like to see happen as a
progression of a lost style?Hardfloor
are the masters but they don't do the
same thing anymore.I ask this not from a
standpoint of how to sell some records
but what kind of track would you like to
hear now as a head not a
consumer?

In my opinion, the best kind of acid is implicated in German hardtrance. Check out the Ravermeister (Vol. 1-12) and Rave Mission (Vol. 1-14) compilations...they're out of this world and have the best basslines on earth. No to mention that there are lots of different effects on the 303's.

im·pli·cate (mpl-kt)
v. tr. im·pli·cat·ed, im·pli·cat·ing, im·pli·cates.

To involve or connect intimately or incriminatingly: evidence that implicates others in the plot.
To have as a consequence or an inference; imply.
Archaic. To interweave or entangle; entwine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Middle English to convey a truth bound up in a fable, from Latin implicre, implict- to entangle, unite: in-, in; see in-2 + plicre, to fold; see plek- in Indo-European Roots.]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

thus, it is purest nonsense to say something is implicated _in_ something else.

Thanks Webster but we're musicians not
English majors so go find another thread
to start flaming in.Do you guys still
think it's acid if it has a funky beat
instead of a 4 on the floor?Should i put
those vocal samples in or what?I've got
the basslines I'm just trying to decide
if it should be a maximum body moving
freakout or an oldschool revival

It's acid as long as there's heavy modulation of an acid sound. Beat doesn't matter, take "High State For Example" which IMPLICATES a 202and a breakbeat. Very well IMPLICATED song if I do say myself. Gives an implicated feel.

If you want sweet-ass psy-trance, check out "Man With No Name" 's remix of "Greece 2000" by "Three Drives on a Vinyl". That song will implicate your mind to another dimension and leave you crying.

Also, don't worry about classifying your stuff, just make music and call it "electronic".

Have fun implicating.

I think would like to hear what people
are coming up with these days that
still use the xox boxes ,din-sync
technology and midi programming.
Even today when I listen to old
school techno (90-93), their
sequencing skills amaze me! just
take a listen to stuff like ummm...
acen, or some other stuff on
peacefrog. Amazing stuff.
I don't think its a matter of what I want
to hear, but what you wanna play
me...

I just noticed the "who still uses xox boxes". And that's funny. That's all I really have. I've got this: SH-101 MC-202 TB-303 TR-606 TR-727 TR-808 2 TR-909'S. Basically I write looptech, along with slow acid shit. Of course I have effects racks, and digidesign's protools hardware/software. And that's it. I don't own any digital synths/drummachines. The last little while, I've wondered if there's still any dedicated "x0x" users out there? If there is, let me know!!!

cool topic.....

YES, Woody McBride! He's my man. I actually know him pretty well. Since about '93. Super nice guy. Very tall=o) I'd say my fave tracks are by Woody, Hardfloor, Hyperactive, Roland Casper. I'd like to hear Woody's old hard acid style. His early Drop Bass records are insane. So are his tracks off of Experimental & Adam and Eve.

Old German stuff? Well there's Important, Hyper Hype, early Force Inc and Noom labels. Anybody remember an old UK label called Acid Fever?

Why do the Liberators/Geezer/DDR/Dave the drummer lot never get a mention around here? Stay Up Forever, thats what i say!

On these labels you will find one of

Silverbox 'Exciter' nice choice.

Have you heard 'Acid Air Raid' bt Solar Quest? Yeah forgot to mention Junkfood.

As for defining an acid track, Jesus, where do you start? Any of the above mentioned, plus take your pick from these;

Essit Muzique ( No track info but a nice tb303 graffiti label)
Rowland the bastard 'ABC-303' ( Old school funky jackin' acid brought bang upto date)
Emmanuel Top 'Elasta Deal' ( Any track by Mr Top will do, but this is my fave)
The list goes on and on but you did only ask for one.

Oh fuck it 'Hexiod' by Unknown Structure as well. Stop.

Actually, most of the really good tracks were done in the early '90s. Rob Acid's Happy Answer, there's an acid track for ya!! Egg Bam Yasi, 303 Nation, older Adam & Eve records, Mike Ink, etc. Alot of the stuff nowadays is boring. Including mine probably=o) But alot is really good also. The Smitten stuff is good, most of Woody McBride's is good. I look for all the older techno records before i go for the newer stuff. It was more exciting.
