Anyone use both a Nova and a Virus? Do they complement each other well or would I be better off getting something like a CS6x to complement my Nova for Techno/Trance music?
I was all set to buy the CS6R then I found a Virus b and just hastily changed my mind and bought it (because I know I could sell it in a second if I find it doesn't suite my needs).

The Nova & Virus should work pretty well together, but they're both VAs. If that suits your style, great... I use a Nord and a Virus, but they do basically the same job (long story as to why I own both).

To put it another way, you have a Nova... What are you trying to get that you don't get out of the Nova?

"What are you trying to get that you don't get out of the Nova?"

one word - AGGRESSIVE

the Virus can be more aggressive, I think that's the main reason why I bought it.
Up 'til now when I need an aggressive lead or bass I've been going to soft synths Rubberduck and VAZ (don't laugh, these soft synths are good).

Cheers,
Brian

Who's laughing?!? And I agree that the Virus does hard shit much better than the Nova. I guess what I'm saying is, what do your ears tell you, and what are your current needs other than this? Do you have/want/need a sampler? Then maybe you want to make do with just one of the two VAs.

Work them both for a while and let your ears decide ;)
