when i edit a patch in performance mode then save the perf using the write button does it change the patch to the new values in program mode and different performance's as well as the performance being edited??

Yes it does, because performances only contain pointers to the patches. While editing you modify one of the 8 edit-buffers, but when writing you change the original patch. Same procedure as with 99% of all synthesizers.

It's a bit of a pain in the arse though when you want to use the same patch in different performances...

I usually copy the patches used to a higher bank to get round this.

Anyone have a better method?

Use the sysex dump function instead to dump the temporary performance plus the temporary 8 patches in to a sequencer....Works perfectly!

The sysex thing is not a bad idea, trouble is that I use the machine live and sequence using hardware sequencers on stage.

The MC80 I use would have problems with the sysex. The e5000 Ultra would struggle too...

Not a problem at home with Cubase of course.
