I've got a little problem. I use a
sequencer and often jam on a track for a
while, tweaking and so forth.

I'm in performance mode while I do this,
and I usally use performance 126 and use
SysEx and program messages to select
which programs the track will use.

Sometimes I tweak a program/ part far
beyond the original, or makke changes to
it that I want to keep.

How to I write a program while still in
performance mode? It's a pain in the
butt to stop what I'm doing, switch to
part mode, move the midi over tot he
global channel, re-construct my changes
and save it.

Help, anyone? Hopefully not a RTFM

Well, that's fine and good, but I would
really like to update the program alone,
not the performance. Possible? (Not that
I'm snubbing your kind advice

Not possible, but there's an even more convenient way to save your sounds with your sequence. Just do a sysex dump of your performance and save it with your sequence. That way, you don't have to save the performance or its associated programs in the Nova... the edited values will be stored with your sysex dump. This is like getting free user banks to store stuff.

The only downside is that if you wanted to take one of those edited parts and save it as a single program without saving the performance in the Nova, you can't. Ideally, there should be a "part save" function in the new OS. Ideally...

Thanks for the advice and insight every
one - I'm just used to working a certain
way, but I can change

I'm performing for the first time this
weekend, and I'm re-mixing and arranging
all my tracks to include the Nova (I've
only had it two weeks). That's why I'm
so impatient to streamline my workflow.
Wish me
